Astrological Winds for Week of 3-25-13

The Mars/Uranus conjunction brought many explosive events last week including a massive fireball seen up and down the east coast of the US. It’s interesting to note that an event like that in ancient times, and for that matter the two comets that are now visible from parts of the earth, would have been read as omens of things to come soon that cause some type of upheaval, thus fitting in with the energy of the Uranus/Pluto square and in particular with Mars interacting with it. This energy is also fitting to many of the mundane events being played out right now like the battles over firearms, drones, military issues, border security, etc. Locally here in Tucson, a gunman was spotted on the UA campus on the day of the conjunction – fortunately, nothing transpired and the person was never found. With Mars exact square to Pluto occurring Tuesday, this energy will continue this week quite acutely.

Mars has the only significant aspect on Monday, as the Warrior quincunxs Saturn showing there may be many responsibilities that need to be met today that can squeeze any personal pleasure out of the equation. We can get stuck or unable to adapt and thus bogged down and not accomplish much. It may seem like others or circumstances are blocking you, which can be quite irritating. We may also run into others whose negative attitudes drag us down. You can work on disciplining your own aggressive tendencies and find new ways to express them that are not damaging to self or others.

As I mentioned above, the Mars/Pluto square perfects on Tuesday, thankfully tempered somewhat by a Mars/Jupiter sextile. Mars/Pluto can bring acts of violence, aggression, war, darkness, destruction, power struggles, lies, etc. It is good top avoid dangerous environments and angry people today. This can give us a tremendous amount of physical energy that can accomplish some long drawn out tasks that we are personally ambitious about. This is also an aspect where things from the past that were left untidy can come back to haunt us somehow. Conflicts with groups may reach a critical point too. The best way to use this energy is to challenge yourself to transform and take some of the steps on that long road. Mars sextile Jupiter can lend a helping hand as you can inspire yourself to use some of your gifts to reach for what you want with an optimistic attitude. Taken together these two aspects would be excellent for any kind of deep, intense negotiating that is necessary now (like the Cyprus bank situation!), or dealing with the law/authorities, or any project requiring lots of energy.

Wednesday is a Full Moon in Libra at about 7*. Here the emotional need for relationships versus the need to be ourselves is brought out into the light. How much of ourselves are we willing to sacrifice for the other? Partnerships could get stressed/tested this week. Issues of individual needs for survival versus equality and justice for all are likely to come up. This can be a week of deep change for those ready to do so. This Full Moon forms a Cardinal T-square as it opposes not only the Sun in Aries but also Venus/Uranus/Mars and squares Pluto. This can be a time of great transformation in our relationships and ways of relating - we can break free of inhibitions from the past by striking out on our own in some way and breaking chains of bondage, thus enabling us to form newer, equitable relationships that can transform our life. The Moon’s trine to Jupiter can help us keep an optimistic/positive attitude as we go through this. A choice will be made now to remain living in fear that is based on of own survival exclusively, or one based on love that says that we can all pull together and figure out how to survive more equitably and in balance and harmony with our environment/surroundings. The houses in your chart this Full Moon falls into shows the area of life you personally will most experience this. Any tight aspects it makes to planets or points in your chart will color the energy for you too. Jupiter square Chiron asks us to challenge our own beliefs/values/philosophies so we can see how they hurt/limit us and take on the challenge of breaking free of them and finding a new perspective that brings healing through wisdom/knowledge/our experiences.

Thursday starts with a Mercury/Saturn trine that can give us an extremely detailed mind that is capable of doing intricate work, focusing on paperwork, negotiating finer details, organizing and planning, etc. It gives a disciplined mind and a serious attitude that focuses on what’s important. It’s a good day to get advice, especially from elders or experts. However, this energy is quickly overridden by an exact conjunction of the Sun/Venus/Uranus in Aries. Here we may break free for ourselves – this can de-stabilize weaker relationships and cause people to strike out on their own. Different others will seem exciting/attractive. Sun/Venus usually wants to keep the peace, but Uranus can disrupt that. Still, these can be dynamic disruptions that can exhilarate/enthuse us about life and its possibilities. People may be flirtatious/loud/obnoxious/magnetic. We also may be attracted to new things/ideas/art. Overall, it should be a very stimulating day.

Friday is a very Mercurial day, as the Winged Messenger, now picking up speed, now conjuncts Chiron, squares Jupiter and sextiles Pluto for the third time in the past few weeks. Here’s my past quotes on these: Mercury/Chiron…”reflective, introspective energy…that can help bring inner healing and understanding by allowing us to access thoughts normally unavailable to us.”; Mercury/Jupiter…”which can get us in a positive, hopeful frame of mind over the possibilities of expansion in our lives due to the new information we’ve been receiving. This helps facilitate the abstract thoughts we’ve been having into some kind of plan. The big issue here is we may be self-deluding ourselves on the challenge that lies ahead into putting our Piscean and Jupiterean ideals and visions into reality, because it’s going to take a lot – more than we care to acknowledge presently. The key may be to open to new possibilities and not be so hell-bent on your own way.”; and Mercury/Pluto…” we may find another… that we can communicate our emotions too well and use it as an opportunity to transform ourselves... We have an opportunity to take in what others bring to us deeply and solidly and reflect upon it and bring some focus into our lives. We can also unify ourselves with groups who share with us… This can be a very powerfully moving day if the energy is used/measured well.”

Friday is also the third and final exact hit of the Jupiter/Pluto quincunx (in a yod with Saturn!). Here’s what I said about it back in December: “This quincunx can bring a lot of conflict within society about facing the truth of our value systems and the emotional damage they can incur on individuals that can erupt into acts of power and violence. We need to adjust the ways we use our power is the lesson here by adapting to current circumstances. There can be much anger directed at leaders under this aspect also, especially those whose power has been dominant for a long time – they are being called to adjust to society’s current reality and give up their old power base. It is important to have clear intentions in order to use this energy successfully or you will meet great resistance from others.”

Saturday the Sun and Venus quincunx Saturn cooling relations with others, especially those who have authority or are superior to us. Others may have you feeling unworthy somehow and you may not be able to express yourself the way you’d like to. Your self-esteem/confidence could take a blow therefore. You may feel others are out to get you (and they may be) and you may feel cut off from receiving love, and thus lonely. This can have the effect of closing your heart/becoming unreceptive. It may be best to spend most of this day alone if you can.

This very dense, active week ends with the Sun and Venus squaring Pluto on Sunday, and also sextiling Jupiter. Sun/Venus/Pluto can bring some very intense lessons through relationships/matters of the heart. We could be involved with power struggles with others, love/hate relationships, obsessive/possessive behavior in relation to others, jealousy/envy, sexual issues, etc. Others will test you somehow and you will struggle to prove yourself. Fortunately, Sun/Venus/Jupiter are two of the luckiest/benevolent aspects, so they should act as a balm – perhaps we will see that releasing others in some way opens up new possibilities for all and lift up our optimism to what can be. This is a good day to spend with good friends and reset/make new goals.

Overall, a very intense week full of astrological activity as the pace of time of revolutionary change quicken this whole spring.

Next week is much more laid back.

Thanks for the positive feedback on the blog some of you have expressed when I’ve seen you out and about. Feel free to add comments by becoming a follower on Blogspot. Dialogue is good!

Astrological Winds for Week of 3-18-13

As Mercury stationed direct last week an unprecedented step in the European economic crisis took place: the government of Cyprus introduced a bill to take about 10% of all existing deposits out of the bank and deposit them into the country’s treasury to pay off the public debt the country owes private banks. Naturally, there was a run on the banks that lasted all weekend until every ATM was out of cash. When most of a citizenship’s money is actually just electronic, there is no true tactile/individual control of it and apparently the banks and the governments can and will deduct right from the citizens’ accounts when they deem that necessary! How fitting that this retrograde is in Pisces during this run: the idealism of capitalism just does not add up in long run – the theory behind it is shady/deceptive/illusory at best and now we are seeing the results during this whole Uranus/Pluto square period.

This week starts with a Venus/Saturn sesiquadrate on Monday – relationships may be frustrating/stuck/conservative in nature for the most part today. We may be disappointed in others and really have no recourse for the time being. This can have us feeling isolated/alone, especially within. Interactions with others will be cool and sober and there may be some issues with older authorities/father figures that block us somehow. It’s actually best to spend this day alone if possible.

Tuesday’s biggest event is a 1st Quarter Square of the Moon in Gemini to the Sun in Pisces at 29* - this, like the shift of Mars and now the Sun and Venus to Aries, is the push to get us out of the Piscean energy we’ve been in – to start using some of this information we’ve downloaded into our conscious and to connect with others and share insights/knowledge – to not be so stuck in our own ways to overlook weaknesses and other points of view or to just continue and escape.

Wednesday is the Spring Equinox as the Sun ingresses into Aries and urges us to become the Warrior somehow – to protect our own survival and that of our clan (humanity) with strong and decisive actions that benefit ourselves and all others. We must learn to face everyday life as an adventure, not just certain peak moments that we relish but leave us empty when not doing so. We must remind ourselves to not fall into overly selfish, vain, or aggressive behaviors, but to use our strength and energy to protect those and what we love. There is an exact Saturn/Ceres sesiquadrate on the Equinox, which is worrisome: it seems like issues with restricted food, crops, resources may be a major theme this growing season in the Northern Hemisphere. Getting enough food/nurturance may be difficult for many. Prices of food, etc may continue to pinch more and more of our budgets. The Equinox chart also has a Cardinal square going among the Uranus/Pluto square (with Mars conjunct Uranus also!) and the Moon in Cancer. Set for Washington, DC the Moon is in 4th and Mars/Uranus in 1st and Pluto in 10th – all angular houses, so thus very potent energy. The Moon in Cancer in the 4th shows that the people and homeland is what will be under stress. Mars/Uranus in the 1st shows the potential for explosive revolution, changes, disasters, catastrophes, surprises, etc. Pluto in the 10th house shows the Executive branch of the government making power plays on the country/people/homeland. We could be in for some very decisive/heated times in the next few months politically and socially. Fortunately, the Moon is also in a Grand Trine with Mercury/Neptune/Chiron in the 123th in Pisces and Saturn in the 8th in Scorpio – it maybe a time of endings for the power of certain authorities over the people who want something more idealistic and all-encompassing behind the driver’s wheel of governance. These next few months are a potentially very stormy point astrologically – there are many things waiting to burst forth to bring on inevitable change on the world front that will affect us all. Focusing on the energy of this Water Grand Trine will help salve some of these wounds – bringing healing and higher consciousness to our minds and emotions so that we can make deep changes in power structures that are transformative and permanent.

Thursday’s exact Saturn/Chiron trine can assist in the above changes by bringing stable self-discovery that can be woven into our everyday reality so that we can really live the change we want the world to become. Venus also scampers into Aries today which can makes us assertive/aggressive/strong/independent in the sharing of our love and affection (perhaps too much so). We may be domineering in certain relationships and thus create some battles with others. It is easier to be ourselves now and not give a damn what others think!

Friday is the exact Mars/Uranus conjunction in Aries (kaboom!): on a mundane level do not be surprised if there are major acts of individual violence and revolt/revolution or natural disasters in the world. On individual levels, people will be very excited/jacked, but also very independent/aggressive/shocking/explosive/selfish/subjective/brash. Accidents are quite possible from rash behavior/decisions. You can be quite innovative/ingenious with this energy in finding new ways to break free of limitations.

Saturday is a quincunx between Jupiter and Saturn leading the way: it may hard to relax with this transit as something seems amiss in your plans but you can’t quite get a finger on what it is. It is difficult to decide whether to move forward or retreat on certain projects/fronts. This is also an aspect that can have us squander our resources and have us feel helpless to stop it. We may also get indecisive about what our most important objectives are in life. All of this brings a great sense of restlessness/uneasiness that is difficult to let go/adjust to/separate from.

Sunday is a pretty quiet day with a Moon/Neptune opposition making it a lazy/passive/contemplative/romantic type day.

Next week Mars stays locked up in the T-square with Uranus/Pluto and Venus and the Sun joins in – a potentially explosive week.

Astrological Winds for Week of 3-11-13

Remarkable how many people are commenting on how this Mercury retrograde (even naysayers!) is a real strong one the likes of which they have not experienced before. This is a good lesson, because not only is it retrograde, but it’s also in it’s weakest sign traditionally, Pisces, where the rational mind/intellect (ruled by Mercury) do not work very well. In Pisces, Mercury is both in detriment and fall – a double whammy! Here our normal ways of communicating and thinking do not work in a linear fashion. We must seek alternative means to get the best results, which will still remain somewhat murky/mysterious even under the best of circumstances. Besides these misunderstandings, all projects seemed to be delayed right now and issues with water causing breakdowns seem to be prevalent. Also, religious movements seem to be lost in their normal focus (witness the cardinals being unable to choose a new pope quickly). There are so many stories in the news fitting this Mercury retro it’s incredible, and I know it’s totally messing with my normal day reality interactions big time. What about you?

This week starts off with our indoctrination into Piscean energy at its peak with a New Moon in Pisces at 21*. Over the past few weeks, new dreams and visions have been downloaded into your consciousness, now is a time to launch some plan of action to bring them down to earth’s current reality. Even the smallest of steps in that direction would be symbolic enough with intention today to get you moving in positive directions on your path/journey. This should be a journey centered on non-duality/oneness/merging/spirituality based on compassion/empathy for others and their pain. It is one of service to all/to life itself/to creation. This is a day when you want to reflect deeply within what you want to do to contribute to healing the world and thus yourself too. Pay attention to your dreams, daydreams, fantasies, ideals, psychic messages, intuition, subtle energies, synchronicities, coincidences today, as they will help show you the way. We have the capacity to understand/feel the pain of others and the earth itself and turn that into inspiration/creative energy/healing power. We can merge much easier with our version of the godhead now also. Look to the house 21* Pisces falls in your chart for the area of life that will be affected the most for you personally. Any tight aspects (0-2*) the New Moon makes to any planets/points in your chart will also color the energy for you personally.

And then a shift takes place heralding the beginning of the shift from Pisces right after this peak moment, as Mars leaves the sign of the Fishes for its fiery home in Aries, one of the signs the Warrior rules, and is thus quite strong in. Here Mars takes on the role of the Warrior, roguish hero, determined and willful actor, whose actions benefit both self and others. Here Mars protects life, as a higher manifestation, or can devolve into an egotistical efficient war machine, as a negative one. People will become more active, especially physically – it’s a good time to get involved in sports/athletics/adventures/physical projects, but they can also be more aggressive, angry, selfish, and temperamental. We use this energy well by taking initiative on the ideas brought to us by Pisces – to give spark to our lives and guarantee our survival/existence. It may be difficult to be patient with others now and the best recommendation is to do it yourself then, seriously! Also, be aware of moving too fast and getting involved in accidents during this period. This can get wars/military actions around the world fired up even more.

Tuesday’s Moon in Aries conjunct Mars and Uranus will make this a very energetic/exciting/stimulating day in some subjective/individualistic way for each of us.

Wednesday’s biggest event is the asteroid goddess Juno ingressing into Aquarius. Under this energy partnerships can form based on intellectual ideas, especially those surrounding justice and equality. Yet at the same time it has the need for each individual within partnerships to be able to shine/be recognized in their own unique way/for their own unique input.

Thursday’s biggest event is Sun square Ceres, which can bring up challenges/crisis over having to care for others in some way, to the point of an inability to meet all your own needs. Issues involving nurturing or resources may come up too. We could also be “over-mothered” by someone (or vice versa), or feel rejected by another or experience some forced separation.

Friday is pretty quiet, although a Moon/Saturn opposition in morning shows it may be a day surrounded by duties to others – fortunately, a Moon/Pluto trine helps us handle it well for the most part.

Saturday has a frustrating Sun/Saturn sesiquadrate. You may feel stymied by some authority or restriction placed upon you or by all that’s required for you to do today for others. This can get you feeling ornery, pessimistic, depressed Physical energy can be difficult to get fully going too.

Sunday is the second biggest astrological day of the week as Mercury goes direct! (yay!) However, remember at its station, each planet is strongest in effect, so expect one more big dose of Mercury retro in Pisces before that energy begins to tail off through the shadow period (to April 5th) and finally out of Pisces on April 15th (lots of mistakes on tax returns this year no doubt – or lying?).

Next week, the Sun and Venus join Mars in Aries as the Pisces energy continues to break up, while Mars conjuncts Uranus, which can bring some explosive/shocking events.

Astrological Winds for Week of 3-4-13

Once again we see the effect of Mercury retrograde through politics last week as the Republicans and Democrats could not get together/seem at a loss as to what to do on stopping the sequester to the economy – in Pisces, they are the two fish swimming away from each other connected by the tail but not seeing so. They have two fundamentally different views that they cannot reconcile due to their unyielding belief in their own cause. Meanwhile, the results of that has the populace and businesses lost/confused/deceived/adrift. The Piscean energy of these times has fully enveloped us.

Monday is a pretty dense day astrologically starting with Mercury Retrograde’s inferior conjunction to the Sun, both square Vesta. In Pisces, this conjunction can bring some deep spiritual reflection/contemplation and have us interested in the mystical side of our life journey. We are more open/sensitive to receiving subtle messages from unseen worlds/energies today. This inferior pass is more focused on inner conversation rather than external. Our dealings with others may be deeper than just the surface, but the square to Vesta may also put us at odds with certain groups and their behaviors due to misunderstandings and commitment issues. There is also a Venus/Jupiter square today, which is actually a pretty easy square, as we can usually find some forms of relaxing/indulgence under it and people get along well and expand each other’s worlds. If anything, with all the Pisces energy, it can make us overly passive/lazy and undisciplined with finances quite easily. The Moon in Sagittarius also makes a 3rd Quarter Square to Sun/Pisces to add to the tension of this day, as the emotional side of us wants to give us a swift kick in the butt to get us up and going on some adventure instead of internally moping around.

Tuesday’s biggest event is Venus conjunct Chiron which can bring some healing/learning to relationships through finding new forms of beauty wrapped up in nuggets of truth. A Moon/Mars square in morning will give us a lot of energy today, but can also have us overly willful, aggressive, at odds with others – a good day to work on some physical project solo.

Wednesday is another very dense day astrologically – there is much to process this week! It starts with the weekly hard lunar aspects to the Uranus/Pluto square with the Moon in Capricorn conjunct Pluto and square Uranus. Intense emotions surrounding power, obsessions, jealousy, fears may come up today and have us wanting to break free somehow. Fortunately, other people can help us out, as Mercury retrograde conjuncts Venus and they both trine Saturn and sextile Pluto. Here we may find another/others that we can communicate our emotions too well and use it as an opportunity to transform ourselves and our relationships by building stability and depth to them. We have an opportunity to take in what others bring to us deeply and solidly and reflect upon it and bring some focus into our lives. We can also unify ourselves with groups who share with us. This can also ground our creativity into solid forms. This can be a very powerfully moving day if the energy is used/measured well.

Thursday has a Mars/Saturn sesiquadrate, which can frustrate/slow down actions and have us “off” physically somehow. Energy will be bumpy/awkward today. Our bodies may not be up to the task. Our shortcomings may block us somehow from what we set out to achieve. Issues with authorities could also come up. All of this can have us react angrily somehow.

Friday is the 2nd  exact hit of the ongoing Saturn/Pluto sextile that is one of the main transits of 2013 and I blogged on during first hit back in last week of December. This is a favorable transit between the two planets of power and control that brings the opportunity for building some structure/stability in the midst of these times of volatile change and transformation. It is a time when we can learn how strong and enduring we can be when we cut out all the fat, waste, and excess. We have the ability to work on long term goals and projects that may not have much short term pay-off. If we keep our noses to the grindstone, we can reach some long lasting achievements. This is good for work/career moves as long as you maintain determined focus, and during this period you can. This transit will last through September, so use it while you can. Mercury Retrograde conjuncts Chiron today also, continuing the reflective, introspective energy of the week that can help bring inner healing and understanding by allowing us to access thoughts normally unavailable to us.

Saturday, Mercury Retrograde squares Jupiter, which can get us in a positive, hopeful frame of mind over the possibilities of expansion in our lives due to the new information we’ve been receiving. The key may be to open to new possibilities and not be so hell-bent on your own way.

Sunday is the mellowest day of the week with five nicer Pisces Moon transits to planets making this a day of balance, harmony, and unity when summed together.

Next week we have a New Moon in Pisces, while Mars dashes off for Aries, a sign it rules, and (yes!) Mercury goes direct. Hang in there!
