Astrological Winds for Week of 6-24-13

Wow, what an explosive week of events last week that mirrored the astrology of these times. Astrologers must do their best to maintain objectivity, whether with individual clients or when reading the tides of history, both difficult tasks to achieve as our own inclinations/viewpoints/experiences/beliefs/values/etc color our way of seeing/interpreting the world, which as the new physics has shown us can influence the way events unfold! Yet somehow on some deeper, perhaps spiritual level, it all make sense/seeks balance. Yes, clients may come to you that are experiencing similar issues to ones you’ve had – but is that not perhaps the way the Universe works: bringing together “likes”, so they can learn from one and other? Politically, astrologers can’t help but have their own leanings also, so a week like this past one can really test objectivity. I personally believe that the events that occur are reflecting the general collective consciousness, and thus have messages for us to help us evolutionize. Since current political systems seem incapable of doing that, I definitely lean to the left politically, and I can’t help but see most of these current issues telling us we need to change how we live in order to stop from devolving into total chaos and perhaps even self-annihilation as a species. This week had the latest examples.

Last week, we had a Sun/Jupiter conjunction, normally a harbinger of optimism/good news/financial gains, yet world markets including the Dow crashed heavily. Why? Because Jupiter is in weak position in Gemini: things may look good on the surface but there is little substance beneath; conveniently overlooking the details because they are annoying; neglecting those feelings inside that what you’re being told can’t be substantiated; insensitive emotionally towards others who are not benefitting from current ideas; and being too detached/objective/superficial/gossipy. The gains of the past months in the markets fit the descriptions above: that’s why they crashed finally!

Meanwhile, Mars sextile to Uranus and quincunx to Pluto triggered the Uranus/Pluto square with the help of a Full Moon (conjunct Pluto) in Capricorn – the US and other countries were revealed to have massive internal spying databases built on all the e mails and telephone calls made by all its citizens and that it was actively spying on other countries as well, which did not help in getting international help in trying to arrest the leaker. Meanwhile, Brazil was the latest country to explode in open rebellion against their current system and how it cheats the masses and benefits the few – the timing of this event during an international soccer tournament kept it in the international media spotlight and with both the World Cup and Summer Olympics due up in Brazil over the next few years, it will likely continue to do so.

Also, the Mercury/Venus conjunction in Cancer brought together a divorced family to negotiations for the first time in a long time as the two Koreas agreed to enter talks, and Mars/Chiron/Neptune set off hurricane season in the gulf.

During the Full Moon, the oil capital of Canada, Calgary, gets major flooding – flooding that keeps getting worse worldwide because of the use of oil and its effect on the climate and thus weather: here the flooding is in the very province that the infamous Keystone Pipeline will be shipping oil from as they degrade thousands of square miles of natural wetlands that absorb flood waters naturally for its oil – oil that is enough in volume to put the world’s atmosphere beyond the point of major increases in temperature that climatologists warn will lead to catastrophic weather related results just like this flood – think nature is exposing the issue under the Full Moon and asking old power structures to change or be changed?

A quick look at the Summer Solstice chart set for Washington, DC can show the themes of issues coming up for the USA in next 3 months. This chart has a 27* Pisces Ascendant making Jupiter, still in detriment in Gemini, the ruler of the chart – all those things I said about Jupiter in Gemini above will be key energy in the USA for next quarter. The Sun/Jupiter conjunction falls in the 4th house of real estate, the homeland and communities, the roots of a society, nationalism, and the masses. These are the areas where this Jupiter in Gemini will be felt the most: any gains/optimism here may be shallow/superficial/overlooking details/etc. The Moon in Scorpio (fall) in the 8th house also quincunxs Jupiter showing the masses must adjust values/philosophies in matters of international finance and corporate power or that it could lead to death like policies that choke our nation. The Uranus/Pluto square is angular in this chart and thus very active: Uranus rising in the 1st house shows sudden shocking events could happen to the nation as a whole both physically and psychologically, and Pluto in the 10th shows a power grab or struggle for the President and actual threats to his well-being. The Neptune/Chiron conjunction is also rising but in the 12th house, which shows some heavy losses or feelings of helplessness may occur. The Nodal Axis falls in the 2nd/8th houses suggesting continued karmic lessons about resources will continue. Saturn retrograde in the 7th house indicates restrictions and loss of power in the faces of allies.

Looking at the week ahead, we see a couple more major shifts.

Monday is relatively quiet as the Moon in Capricorn opposes Mercury/Venus likely making it a very interactive with others day: lots of communications, socializing, deals, etc.

Tuesday is the first major shift as Jupiter ingresses into Cancer, the sign it is exalted in. It will go from a place of weakness to a place of strength over the next year. This is a sign of great hope for it brings a genuine caring attitude towards others: the realization that you’re security is predicated on others around you feeling secure too, so a willingness to work at things that benefit/take care of all. This will fuel the “go local” movement for sure. It’s also interesting to note that it is kicking in while “Obamacare” goes full on in its effects and many people who were not being cared for will start to be. Investments in health care industries and the care of the elderly industries will likely be beneficial. This may also have people assess the roots of where they come from and try to re-align themselves more to them and their original intent. Perhaps even the judicial system will step in for the people and the Constitution’s original intent. This is definitely a sign of hope in these trying times and seems to say that caring for each other is where we will get the most benefit this next year.

Wednesday has the other big shift of the week as Mercury in Cancer goes retrograde until July 20th.Here we may have our emotions/feelings leaving us tongue-tied in an inability to truly express how we feel verbally to others…or if we do leaving them confused or even hurt…which could lead to silent battles and power struggles (like a couple who only communicates to one and other over practical necessities via post it notes!). This is a good time to go within and truly assess what we need to sustain ourselves emotionally. This can also cycle up old habitual ways of thinking that is learned ancestral behavior and has no real use anymore and is holding you back from being your genuine self. It can easy to get mentally obsessed because of inability to control your emotions – be careful if you find yourself on that road, as it can be quite self-destructive to your relationships with others ultimately.

There is also a Grand Trine in Water as the Sun in Cancer locks into and triggers the Saturn/Neptune trine that blogged about a few weeks back: “Saturn and Neptune have been in a trine since last September when Saturn first entered Scorpio. This trine will be getting an exact hit later this month on June 12th, so it is very tight at this time period. This aspect is working on the Collective level to help us learn from our mistakes and the resulting confusion and uncertainty that have been the result of our choices – much of this has to do with an oil based economy/energy/civilization (Neptune). The trine helps us to see how we got to where we are and to start realizing that spirituality and higher consciousness must be given greater value in order to resolve the problems of today. People are able to subordinate much of their own ego under this energy and work for more altruistic goals willingly. People gain energy and relief through service to others/each other/the Collective. Ideals and reality are able to merge easier now, yet there is a grounded approach that does not allow us to get too high and excited, but more reflective/contemplative. We may also become aware of resources that have been hidden from us prior to now.” This makes it a great day to work with this energy and to get the help of others while doing so.

There’s a bunch of positive lunar transits on Thursday and Venus ingresses into Leo making this a positive, possibly exuberant day. Venus in Leo (through July 23rd) can have us acting as quite the exhibitionist in our desire to get attention/love from another/others. Many times however our attraction to others is only based on physical attributes under this energy. In general, we are warm toward others and we will be quite loyal to our friends now too.

Energy may get a bit bumpy/awkward/challenging on Friday as the Moon squares Mars as Mars sesiquadrates Saturn: we may feel blocked/restricted in our actions by some authority/law/situation today that has us feeling quite irritated/angered/frustrated. Arguments/fights with others are possible. Best to work alone on some hard physical product, but even these efforts may be thwarted in some ways.

Saturday’s main event is a 3rd Quarter Square of the Moon in Aries to the Sun in Cancer: emotionally we are charged up and ready to take on the world/take some risk/have an adventure, but the self would rather rest at home in its shell feeling safe and secure with what it’s got – the challenge is how to meet the needs of both.

The weekly Moon/Uranus/Pluto hard aspects are missed overnight as they perfect early Sunday morning while most will be asleep. Do be careful of dangerous people and places if you are out to the wee hours Saturday night. Otherwise Venus conjuncts Ceres on Sunday making it a day of giving and receiving nurturing in some forms. This is a good day to create nurturing environments also. Creativity and sexuality will be fertile too.

Next week will be a challenge as the Sun gets in a T-Square with Pluto/Uranus. The world will no doubt have some more shocks to deal with.

Astrological Winds for Week of 6-17-13

This week gets an energetic jolt to start off as Mars is sextile Uranus on Monday – this will give us the energy/drive/ambition to get ahead in some way – an excited type of optimism. This energy favors doing something different/new, as it is flexible and adventurous in nature, so it’s an excellent day to take the opportunity to initiate changes in your life. We definitely can have a rebellious/devil-may-care attitude today that wants to approach life differently. New people/places/things fascinate us. This edginess will be fed by the Moon’s weekly stressful aspects to the Uranus/Pluto square today, as Moon in Libra squares Pluto and opposes Uranus – there is revolution in the air and conflicts/rebellions (like the one in Turkey) may reach some breaking point with heavy handed tactics by those in power versus rebellious decisions by those opposing the current power base. Later, Mercury sesiquadrate Neptune can get thoughts and communications quite foggy/stuck/lost/misunderstood, or the mind may just be worn out from such an active day and be ready for the welcome release of sleep/dreamland.

Tuesday is a pretty quiet day – there is lunar squares to Venus/Mercury in early morning, but they shouldn’t be too troublesome, and the Moon’s trine to the Sun and Jupiter in the evening triggers their pending conjunction tomorrow and should bring much harmony, cheerfulness, and optimism Tuesday night.

The Sun’s annual conjunction to Jupiter is the big event (pun intended – they are the 2 biggest objects in our solar system after all!) of Wednesday. This conjunction occurs at 28* of Gemini in the critical degree zone: have we learned when enough mental stimulation is too much to handle/process yet? This past year of Jupiter in Gemini has been one of having so much mental stimulation thrown at us that it’s hard to remember what you were thinking/processing just 15 seconds ago before and this day may hit another apex of that energy. Most of us will be instilled with feelings of optimism on this day – things will be looking up somehow. This is a time of expansion in our worlds and it’s likely to come through others via information and communications.  This is a good day to try something new. This can also have people feeling generous/kind/compassionate. We may dream big today, but we may take on more than is possible to actually achieve. Venus sesiquadrate Neptune can feed us getting overly idealistic, especially in the way we see others, and thus open to self-deception. Weaker relationships fade under this energy. Mars square Chiron may throw us some blockages today, especially physically – we must learn to adapt to changing circumstances is the lesson here or we could hurt ourselves.

Thursday Mercury catches up to Venus at about 22* Cancer – this is an equal blending of the mind and emotions usually, but in Cancer the emotions may dictate what the mind is thinking and the tongue is saying. We may have some beautifully pleasing aesthetic moment or be strongly attracted to artistic expressions today. This is an excellent transit to verbalize your feelings of love toward others under. Also can be good for biz deals/financial deals. Summer Solstice occurs at 10:04 PM PST Thursday night as it is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and the Sun enters Cancer, a time of focus on home, hearth, and family. The Sun in Cancer brings the gift of caring for others. People can get a bit sensitive and sentimental during this time of the year.

Friday is pretty quiet and a Moon/Neptune square in morning may make it hard to get ging this day.

Saturday is also quiet with a conjunction of Venus to Vesta bringing feminine issues to the forefront somehow. For lovers, this can be some beautiful expressions of sexuality. Others may be bit with artistic inspiration or devotional spirituality bugs.

Sunday is a Full Moon at 2* Capricorn: on the Cancer/Capricorn axis this Full Moon is all about looking at the way we try to control or restrict our emotions versus the need to have a deep nurturing connection to those we love the most. The danger of this axis is manipulation – trying to control others through emotional manipulation/dominance. Cancer and Capricorn can be too conditional with their requirements in order to get love – they may try to control others around them and possibly even live their lives through others, thus deepening their need to control them. They must learn to release their loved ones and trust them to make the best decisions for themselves. There may be a fear of loneliness inside that we must come to terms within ourselves. We must learn to release some of our authority over others. There are deep seated fears of rejection associated with both of these signs – keeping in control is one way people try to fight off their sense of powerlessness over others and their fear of being rejected by others. People will act responsibly, maturely or they may totally breakdown into an emotional mess that’s self-defeating. Ultimately, we must learn we are responsible for our own needs and life. This can also pit the patriarchal system versus feminine energy in the world. The denial of our feelings collectively on what we sense is wrong with our world, yet just keeps getting swept under the rug or run back to the same old authorities to resolve, must change. The Sun’s conjunction to Jupiter may help us find a broader view that welcomes in new perspectives. This Full Moon asks us to question authority and current traditions and to reclaim our individual power from them – to become the authority of our own life, and to love others and set them free and trust that they know what is best for them. Look to the houses this Full Moon falls into in your chart to see what areas of life it will affect you the most in. Any planets or points in your chart it makes tight aspects to will also influence its energy for you individually.

Next week there are 2 big shifts as Jupiter enters Cancer for the next year and Mercury goes retrograde.

Astrological Winds for Week of 6-10-13

Once again one of the biggest stories in the news last week – the revelation that the US government was keeping records of all phone calls and e mails, etc of its citizens – reflected the interaction of the inner planets triggering the Uranus/Pluto square. In this case, Mercury in Cancer locking into a T-square digs up/reveals secret manipulation by the very agencies that are supposed to be protecting us. This has triggered a sudden backlash by many on how far we need to go/how much we need to sacrifice to be safe (and are we ever completely anyway?).

And now this week Venus in Cancer will form a T-square with Uranus/Pluto testing relationships big time. The apex of this energy will be spread out over Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. On Monday the Moon in Cancer will conjunct Venus and together they will oppose Pluto and square Uranus. On Tuesday Venus opposes Pluto exactly, and then on Wednesday squares Uranus exactly. Very intense energy in relationships may rise to the surface during these days. There may be revelations of emotional manipulation that blow up into major battles/power struggles. There may be sudden upsets/break-ups/separations. Obsessive/compulsive behavior in regard to another is possible. Old wounds may be re-opened and a need to transform the ways we relate to each other underlies it all. We may seek new people, places, and interests in order to break away. Relationships that are already weak are most susceptible to this aspect. Otherwise, this energy can be used to take in new knowledge/info via others that shakes our world, and we can use as an impetus to change the way we relate to others.

Monday also has Mercury trine Chiron which helps us to use words and other forms of communication to help heal and teach others, or perhaps we will be the ones to receive a gift of healing or learning from another. The Sun is sesiquadrate Saturn today too – this will add to the frustration felt from Moon/Venus/Uranus/Pluto T-Square today. Authorities may be the source of our frustration and thus who we rebel against. This can get us pessimistic/down on the state of our world, and thus resentful/resigned. Overall, Monday can be quite a challenging day, and a day we could all use a break/some soothing re-assurance.

Besides the exact Venus/Pluto opposition I mentioned above, Tuesday also has the 2nd exact hit of the ongoing Saturn/Neptune trine that I blogged on extensively last week: “Saturn and Neptune have been in a trine since last September when Saturn first entered Scorpio. We may also become aware of resources that have been hidden from us prior to now.” It would be helpful to access this energy this week during this intense time of Venus/Pluto/Uranus to help alleviate some of the pain it may cause us.

Wednesday has the exact Venus/Square.

Thursday is a quiet day, with Moon in Leo sextile the Sun bringing much harmony and balance and a nice respite after the storm of the T-Square these past 3 days.

Friday is a good day to work on healing any damaged relationships from earlier in the week’s storm as Venus trines Chiron and a true concern for others is felt by most. This can also be helpful in creating healing environments/surroundings.

Mars quincunx Pluto on Saturday has many of our own actions tripping us up/slowing us down, as we can get easily over willful and throw everything off around us, and be looking for someone/something to blame when we need to realize and acknowledge we are the source. This is a day to stay away from dangerous/violent people/places, as they can be easily triggered/unable to control themselves. The best way to approach this energy is to accept that certain aspects of yourself must change and that that is a long road that must be approached relentlessly.

Chiron stations retrograde on Sunday: in the upcoming months healing should be focused on yourself and especially from within – contemplate on the sources of your pain and wounds in order to get a deeper understanding of them and the best measures to help heal them. There is also a First Quarter square of the Moon in Virgo to the Sun in Gemini: the emotional side of us wants the details of the plan spelled out, challenging the self which is content with breadth over depth – the challenge is to glean out what’s really important in the mountain of input we get each day and to synthesize it into something useful/practical.

Next week is Summer Solstice and the Sun’s annual conjunction to Jupiter, plus Full Moon in Capricorn.

Astrological Winds for Week of 6-3-13

Saturn and Neptune have been in a trine since last September when Saturn first entered Scorpio. We may also become aware of resources that have been hidden from us prior to now. The reason I mention this trine is that with the inner planets all heading for Cancer now/soon, multiple Grand Water Trines will be forming, making the Saturn/Neptune trine energy peak/become quite palpable – we may be able to make some serious progress now on social issues – note the planets in Cancer will also be locking into the Uranus/Pluto square also: it’s as if the Grand Trines will be brought in as salve to the wounds of Uranus/Pluto. The first Grand Water Trine will be formed by Mercury on Monday this week urging us to use emotions and empathy when communicating with one and other about our ideals and how to make them part of our reality. Non-verbal communications, especially psychic type, should be flowing today, and this is also good for being in a contemplative/meditative state of mind. The mind is able to stay grounded in assessing reality versus idealism, yet sensitive to the energy involved. Much progress can be made in both our inner world and with our connections to others today. People are good listeners and want to understand each other, and relate to/understand each other’s feelings. The Sun is also square Chiron today, showing we can use the Grand Trine to help adjust our self-image and our image to the world by facing our pain and fears and gaining self-understanding from them, and thus take on the challenge of changing our life.

Tuesday is a mellow day with three positive lunar transits (sextiles to Venus, Neptune, and Mercury) to enjoy and take some of the edge off a Moon/Saturn opposition which may have us making some serious decision, having to contend with some authority, or feel restricted by our duties to others.

Wednesday is even quieter as there’s only an early Moon/Pluto trine, however the Moon is void-of-course rest of day, so not a good day for new projects.

Thursday is even quieter with no aspects at all.

Friday however is an incredibly complex day astrologically: Neptune stations retrograde and at same time is trined by Venus (the 2nd Grand Trine perfects as Venus trines Saturn exactly too) and is squared by Mars, which also quincunxs Saturn and conjuncts Pallas Athene, while Mercury locks into Uranus/Pluto square by opposing Pluto exactly and squaring Uranus exactly on Saturday– sheesh! Neptune turning retrograde is a subtle shift that lasts until November 14th – it’s a time where we can become more internalized/reflective/contemplative about our spiritual path, idealism, and imagination. Venus perfecting the second water Grand Trine of the week with Saturn/Neptune will bring stability and unconditional love into our relationships with others – love is felt on deep emotional levels and we can have great empathy for others. An otherwise sweet day however is thrown off by the other two inner planets. Mars square Neptune can diffuse physical energy greatly and Mars quincunx Saturn shows our attempts at trying to move forward may not work out or will require great adjustments to our actions.  This is a day where something or someone may discourage you and remind you how difficult /futile life can be. You may be forced to re-assess goals. If you are able, don’t overexert yourself today – stick to softer, slower movement. Mars/Saturn can make you indecisive, as you’re not sure how to move forward. The Grand Trine and Neptune with Mars will likely keep this energy from turning into anger/rage, which is actually beneficial, especially when you add Mercury opposite Pluto to this mix. On the Cancer/Capricorn axis, this opposition can have us get into some emotional outburst with someone close to us. Deep emotions may be stirred up and the need to say something is irresistible – power struggles and emotional manipulation through communications may ensue into a battle of wills or intense conflicts. This is also a sign of manipulation by government and big business through propaganda, so much of what we hear from the press via official announcements may be meant to deceive/hide the truth. On personal levels, this can get us very narrow-minded/obsessed with an ideology/idea to the detriment of letting anything else in.

Mercury square Uranus can overstimulate the mind with information overload especially on Saturday, and have us nervous/frenzied/scattered. Things most likely will not work out as planned, so keep a flexible attitude about changing circumstances. This day will likely fly by perception wise. You may have many ideas and stimuli quickly pass through your mind. Watch for being accident prone and speaking before thinking/off-the-cuff. There is also a New Moon at 18* Gemini on Saturday morning. It is a time of collecting/gathering information – the search for the elusive “Other” that actually ultimately resides within and is reflected in the external world especially through others/relationships. A realization that all discriminatory knowledge has its light and shadow sides, and the side we choose to focus upon is our own choice. It is also a time for broadcasting what we’ve learned along the way, or some important message we want the world to hear. Our minds will be quite curious and want to know “why?”. People can be quite chatty and superficial in conversational content under this influence – they will want to hash out what’s on their mind with others for emotional contentedness. This is a time of networking and connecting with others to share new knowledge. Look to the house 18* Gemini is in in your natal chart to see what area of life this New Moon will affect you the most. Any tight aspects (0-2*) it makes to planets or points in your chart will also influence its energy on you personally.

Sunday is Water Grand Trine number three of the week as the Moon in Cancer trines Saturn/Neptune to continue the potency of this energy throughout the week. Sun trine Juno shows partners are in great harmony today too.

Next week Venus moves into a T-Square with Uranus/Pluto – relationships will be tested.
