Astrological Winds for Week of 12/26/11

It's the last Astrological Winds Blog of 2011 - up and running about a year now - a successful New Year's Resolution for 2011 on the personal level! Got to get going on the website for 2012! It's a pretty quiet week to end the calender year (Aside: not the astrological year however - I believe that began anew on the Solstice last Tuesday. Other astrologers believe it starts on the Equinox in March), so I'm going to get my annual look at the Solstice Chart set for Washington, DC into this blog too. I have successfully used this method for several years to get a taste on what's ahead for the USA in the next calender year.

You can be feeling a little bit of a holiday hangover mentally especially on Monday as Mercury semi-squares Saturn while the Moon is squaring Saturn, however it should be relatively minor and will not last long as Moon ingresses to Aquarius and makes 3 positive planetary aspects throughout the rest of the day: a holiday for many of us and these 3 aspects will feed that (square Jupiter, sextile Uranus, conjunct Venus) and have us wanting to continue the party with family and friends for another day.

Wednesday has the biggest event of the week with the Sun making its annual conjunction to Pluto. This is the anniversary week of the beginning of the uprisings that began in Tunisia and quickly spread across the Arab world and subsequently across the globe throughout 2011. Sun/Pluto speaks of power: personal power, power struggles, increased aggressiveness to get what one wants, transformative revolution, breakdowns, birth/life/death/rebirth, ego defense, violence/crimes/areas & people swept under the rug by society. We can use this energy on a personal level to focus like a laser beam on things that need to change in our lives - things that need to be moved out in order to let new things in., but we can easily fall into one of the negative power uses listed above or become a victim of someone else's. Mercury's sesiquadrate to Jupiter shows that a battle of big ideas that may not be well thought out for details could be what enflames some type of disagreement today into a full on battle.

Saturday, New Year's Eve, has a Mercury square Mars, making it a challenging day for communication with others, as people are touchy/irritable, and likely to blow up verbally in order to let off some steam. Many times who or what they blow up on are not the causes of their irritability, but are familiar faces and thus safer to go off on. However, this type of attitude can spill over into our public lives when intoxication fuels inhibition which is more likely to occur on New Year's Eve - so be careful in your interactions, stay away from those who shoot firearms into the air as part of their ritual, and be aware the level of rowdiness this NYE will be even higher than normal. Slow down and be safe(r).

Like I said, a pretty quiet week, and as I mentioned in early December, a pretty quiet 2 months of astrological weather until Mars goes retrograde, which I will get into more extensively soon here.

Winter Solstice Chart: An Indication of What’s Ahead for USA in 2012

Before reading this blog, it might be interesting for you to review my blog on this chart set for last year and how well it give a picture for USA for the year now that we've been through it.... It's here: http://astrologicalwinds.blogspot.com/2010/12/winter-solstice-chart-look-at-2011-for.html ...
pretty amazing how well this chart can tell the story in general! So here goes for 2012:

The Solstice chart set for Washington, DC on December 22nd at 12:30 AM EST has a 4* Libra ASC and 5* Cancer M/C with the Moon in Scorpio at 26* in 2nd house, so the ruler of the chart is Venus, at 1* Aquarius (where it only has a very minor dignity, ie - face) in the 4th house at the top of a mixed modality t-square, squaring exalted Saturn in Libra in the 1st house and stationary Jupiter in Taurus in the 7th house. I believe the Venus/Jupiter square is more potent here as it is quite tight and both planets are in fixed signs. This is a year of questioning value systems and beliefs for the United States. This is a year when we may begin to realize how extravagant/indulgent our lives truly are and how we let excess materialism drive many of our decisions and lead to incredible amounts of waste. In other words, the party may be ending and the bills are due, thus the crisis in value systems/beliefs. Once again, many citizens' biggest investment, their home (Venus in 4th; Saturn ruling 4th) will take the biggest brunt of past exaggerations, overvaluations, overly optimistic asset schemes, etc. that were driven by investors/financiers/banks (Venus rules 8th; Jupiter in Taurus). In effect, this will be depressing the mood/outlook of the country as a whole (Venus square Saturn in 1st; Saturn ruling 5th) and will keep people very conservative with their finances, entertainment expenditures, income to spend, and will lead them to continue to press the government/the Nation/authorities to re-consider their systems/services/laws and how it is depressing the country as a whole. People are literally feeling inhibited in their own homeland by those in authority!

The Moon, representing the common people and their current opinions, shows the dour mood of the populace, as it is in Scorpio (Fall) in the 2nd house. People are seriously concerned with their personal resources and it is boiling beneath the surface in rage and ideas of vengeance. The people literally feel betrayed by their financial leaders and corporations and large institutions. There is literally a powder keg brewing in the mass conciousness of the populace now and if I was the Court Astrologer for any politician I would HIGHLY recommend that they start to address this or they may end up losing more than they could have ever imagined to the wrath of an enraged people. The Moon ruling the 10th shows that President Obama is not safe from this anger - if he does not start caring for the people, he may be swept away by the tides of history and the electorate come November. The Moon is square the Neptune/Chiron conjunction in the 5th house. I think people really need to be aware that this aspect says our huge entertainment industry in the USA keeps us hypnotized/distracted/escapist/deluded and our attention away from the real problems that are seriously wounding the common people, and will continue to hold sway over large segments of the population. In a certain way, we are fighting this tendency in ourselves and others before we can bring any healing to the nation - we have to decide in our own minds first that the things we do for fun/escapism/"a break from reality" must become secondary to what is needed for fixing our decaying civilization. This aspect indicates we may not be up to that challenge yet in general. The Moon's trine to Uranus in the 6th shows there are many brilliant ideas among the populace/workers/civil servants/the military on how to redefine public service so it benefits all, but the question is, will they do what's necessary to turn ideas into actions?

The Sun's annual conjunction to Pluto straddles the I/C in this chart: simply put - a crisis in the homeland over power and who we give it to: politicians and corporations and banks. This aspect is literally calling the USA to kill/let die the parts of its system that no longer work so that we can rethink our society from the ground up (literally = I/C is low part of chart) and transform it into something much more aligned with the current evolutionary path of humanity and our relationship to the earth. Once again, expect many dark secrets to be revealed about those who truly have the power in this country. There is a true danger here of fascism being bred and instilled across the homeland, as we will be forced to face our Collective shadow and many will not be able to admit to their shared wrongs (including what they believe is just patriotism/love for their country). The other danger is to the political leaders and corporate/bank leaders facing the wrath of the populace and violent revolution breaking out in retaliation to their either perceived or real wrongdoings. Once again, this indicates President Obama is not safe either from the anger of the people/voters. The Sun right at the mid-point of Saturn/Neptune indicates the nation is sick as a whole. However, the Sun's sextile to Chiron in the 5th house indicate opportunities will be available to make progressive changes across society, however it hinges on the leaders of the country, and specifically the President, acting on these opportunities or they could all just go to waste or just fester in "idea" stage. The hope of the nation rests in the Sun trine stationary Jupiter in Taurus. This would indicate the leadership/President could start acting in harmony with the people's desires to make progressive changes to values/belief systems/the Law/justice and to change the way education, wealth, prosperity, and banking are done. It also continues to show that the rest of the world, especially our allies, work well with the President on foreign policy matters, and that he may finally be able to get Congress to go along with him on some issues (Sun rules 11th showing the President may have more power over Congress this year due to shifting political circumstances). It also seems the President may continue to guard an open internet (Jupiter rules 3rd) and works well with the military (Jupiter rules 6th).

One last planet to look at is Mars in Virgo in the 12th house squaring the Nodal axis in the 3rd and 9th houses. This is a weakened Mars and shows that we are quickly losing our military might/influence throughout the world. It also indicates the military will be busy meticulously covering up mistakes/secrets about itself that it does not want revealed, or have to create lots of subversive press releases to get the media off their tails. There's also a danger here of the police and military being used in their own country as soldiers against their own people. This could greatly weaken their standing/public opinion of them and create quite a backlash. It also shows students/universities may have a larger role in revolting against society as it is now and that many local protests could break out far and wide across the country due to poor economic conditions (Mars rules 2nd), where the police/military can be perceived as the enemy (Mars rules 7th) by the people.

A weakened Mars in Virgo ruling the 2nd shows that frugal times will continue for most of us resource wise in general. Stable Jupiter ruling the 3rd shows that the electronic gadgetary of this age will continue to expand by leaps and bounds. An exalted Saturn ruling the 4th shows real estate prices may finally stabilize enough that npeople will start at least talking deals again, but could also bring the hard arm of the law (martial???) onto the homeland. Exalted Saturn ruling the 5th shows the entertainment industry could help foster in the new age by introducing cutting edge ideas on society through media channels like movies/music. Stable Jupiter ruling the 6th, also would seem to indicate that unemployment should stabilize too.  Weak Mars ruling the 7th also shows our decline of military influence both over enemies and with allies even! Venus in Aquarius ruling the 8th shows new ideas about how to deal with international banks and corporations so that behave more equitably will be introduced this year. Mercury, in Sagittarius (detriment) and conjunct the North Node in the 3rd house and ruling the 9th, may help to push universities/students/professors to become the voices for the ideas of change. Cancer ruling the 10th shows the President better take care of the people or he could wind up not being President by end of year. The Sun ruling the 11th shows Congress will continue to wield their power for themselves and their cronies and disregard the will of them majority of the people, perhaps to their own demise. Mercury ruling the 12th shows that a completely new ways of dealing with institutions/bureaucracies will be introduced.

In summary, this seems to be a very key year for the USA and the road it chooses to travel. It seems if we follow our current one, that we risk a complete breakdown of society with martial law/police state/military used against its own people, and many subsequent consequences to those who push this route. However, there is opportunity for broad change to be discussed, and just starting to be implemented - there will not be alot of progression this year, but just getting the conversation going and slowing the momentum of the way things have been may be the best outcome we can hope for this year. It will require the President to be strong and the people to be also, and to back him up when he's trying to be, and to challenge him when he is not.

Astrological Winds for Week of 12/19/11

Although never quite perfecting before Saturn goes retrograde on February 8th, Saturn and Neptune are in a trine to each other these days. I bring that up because the Sun is at the mid-point of that trine this Monday (when it exactly sextiles Saturn) and Tuesday (when it exactly sextiles Neptune). This should highlight the Saturn/Neptune mix this early part of the week. This reminds us to be aware of maintaining our health and good habits in a time of year full of indulgences and relaxation, or otherwise we can weaken our immune systems and allow colds/flus/etc in. Monday actually has a harmonious mix of Sun/Moon/Saturn energy with the aforementioned Sun/Saturn sextile but also Moon conjuncting Saturn and sextiling Sun also. This should be like having a good conservative balance/approach emotionally and actively with the Libra Moon/Saturn not allowing it to sink into negativity/pessimism/depression. An excellent day for efficiency, planning, balanced work that gets ahead and pays attention to details and relationships well, coordinating, taking the leadership role (if even only in our own life), production, and stability emotionally. Remember last week I mentioned Vesta conjuncting Neptune and how that was a lovely aspect for the coming holiday season? This asteroid goddess has been in the news lately with a spacecraft exploring it. Today, it ingresses into Pisces (and then sextiles Jupiter on Tuesday), only enhancing what I said about its energy last week: a time when those who celebrate ritualistic behavior will merge together as groups and find unity.

The Sun/Neptune exact sextile on Tuesday may put us into a more intuitive/meditative/inner space type zone and perhaps afford us an opportunity at some deeper inner understanding of ourselves. Our faith may be re-kindled in some way by both giving and receiving acts of compassion/empathy. We may find ourselves floating on clouds of idealism, imagination, etc. This is enhanced by Venus' ingress into Aquarius, as relationships rally around those we share ideals, values, causes with. This is a time of connecting with others on intellectual/mental levels. Social engagements buzz, but are mainly on superficial/surface levels that perhaps are protecting or hindering us from making deeper emotional connections. This is a time when we want to honor our own and others' uniqueness and maintain a degree of independence from others. This is also good for group projects or drawing different people into our lives. Venus also sqaures Jupiter and sextiles Uranus Tuesday night - two great aspects to get into the holiday festive zone with. Venus/Jupiter is definitely about enjoying life extravagantly with as much indulgence that's possible (or even then some with the square!). Actually, the danger here is going overboard with what one can afford on the credit card, for the body, your schedule due to unbridled enthusiasm/optimism with a belief that nothing can go wrong to break the reverie. This is a great transit for personal relationships, but has low self-discipline in general. Venus sextile Uranus may bring someone or something new into your life that is both surprising and enticing. This is a good night to go out and do something different. People will be gregarious, flirtatious, attractive, exciting.

Wednesday is Winter Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere (and the 1st night of Hannukah) as the Sun ingresses into Capricorn on this shortest day of the year. That is Jupiter in the eastern sky at nightfall and Venus in the western sky. Venus is due to get quite high in the sky and incredibly bright over the next few months: as bright as we will ever see it in our lifetimes literally!  Eventually, Jupiter and Venus will meet up in the sky in the spring and summer - what a spectacle that will be! Plus, Venus will be transiting across the Sun on June 5th. The solstice is of course a marker day when the Sun has reached its greatest declination south at about 23* (the Tropic of Capricorn on a globe) and will now reverse its course and head back towards the celestial equator. All of the modern holidays of these times have their roots in the ancient astrologers' recognition of the importance of this day of the year when the promise of light and sun and life begins to return from the underworld. Many sacred sites around the world were built as calenders that measured when this exact day was. This 4th station of the calender year marks when light is reborn in the womb of darkness.

Thursday the Sun trines Jupiter and squares Uranus. The trine fits right in with the season as it makes us generous, big-hearted, optimistic, happy, have an eye on the Big Picture, postive, eager, etc, however the square to Uranus could make it difficult to extend this out to certain others at times who are not in harmony with you but are rather disruptive actually. Your tendency will be to rebel against them and to seek some freedom from their presence. Also, events could get quick and or jagged and throw you out of rhythm and have you spinning in a bit of a tis. Expect something unexpected, and you'll likely get through it OK, but if you are too rigid, it could get quite challenging at times. This could lead to some anger/frustration/tension in close relationships as Venus sesiquadrates Mars. Watch what you say off the cuff today to loved ones, or just give them their space/support if they are all worked up about something. Also, be careful of going too fast/trying to do too much today and getting yourself into some type of accident.

Friday is a Sun/Chiron/Vesta day, as Chiron conjuncts Vesta and the Sun sextiles both. See what I said about Vesta earlier and last week as these aspects continue that energy. This is a time of year when many get emotional healing through close relationships like siblings or friends that you consider family - sometimes this is the only time of year you get to see some of these people, so these aspects should act like an emotional salve on any wounds/pain/discomfort brought by any form of seperation from them and the support that you can lend one and other when in each other's presence. This is a time when each individual can lend the unique gift they have to others so that the sum becomes greater than the parts and offers an opportunity for healing for all involved on some level or another at least.

Saturday has a New Moon at 2* Capricorn. This is a ripe time to take control of our own lives - to set new goals and the plans on how to achieve them - to discipline ourselves to do what we must to succeed in what we wish to do. Part of this means accepting the reality we are in and to work within those structures and to meet our responsibilities to help further society with the wisdom that we have. This New Moon locks into the Cardinal T-square by conjuncting Pluto and squaring Uranus. This is a time when we must examine how we use our personal power in our lives and challenge ourselves to make some radical changes if we find ourselves being abusive when we are in power in any way. Intuitive insights are likely and may be shocking, but they are meant to be guideposts on this road of change, therefore do not discard them or you could find yourself stuck under the thumb of others dictating the course of your life, or you will invite in disruptive events that could shake your life's foundations. The New Moon's trine to Jupiter should give you a good view of the larger reality you are dealing with and what needs to addressed in order to move forward. This New Moon should also put a lens on all the countries of the world that are having issues with leadership and big business now - we will continue to see our world transform radically and the acceleration of change pick up pace and produce both shocking and irreversible transformation. All that is being hidden from the public is being dragged out into view - expect more and more upsetting revelations of naked abuse of power to continue/accelerate. This New Moon is reminding us that even in the darkest moments, light/life is reborn, but it must struggle in order to survive, and that there is a yearning inside which pushes it ever onward through all trials to do so, so that new forms may manifest and continue the unfolding of evolution on earth; to use the wisdom of our experiences to further this aim. Look at the house in your chart where 2* Capricorn falls in order to see the area of your life where you need  to take control and set and work towards new goals. Any planets from 1-3* in your chart will also be aspecting this New Moon and coloring the energy of it for you personally.

Sunday, Christmas Day, has Jupiter going direct in Taurus, where it will spend the next 6 months before heading off to Gemini. This will bring a sense of stability over the holidays where we can be comfortable in what is familiar. We will be seeking stability with our resources during this whole period - be happy with what we have and do our best to hold onto it. Things that we can get tactile with will bring us comfort/joy. Seeking security by maintaining what's practical will be important to us now. The downside of this is being overly possessive about certain things and having a hard time letting go of anything you are fixated on. Real estate prices may begin to  finally creep up.

I'll try to get a quick analysis of the Solstice Chart set for Washington, DC up soon to get a sense of what's in store for USA in  next few months/year. Next week's astrological weather is much quieter.

Happy Solstice/Holidays All!
Peace on Earth, Good Will to All Humans!

Astrological Winds for Week of 12/12/11

This is another quiet week astrologically. The biggest event is Mercury in Sagiattarius going direct on Tuesday. It will remain in its retrograde shadow until January 1st and in Sagittarius until January 9th, so the effects of the retrograde phase will begin to untie over the rest of the month. Remember, Mercury in Sagittarius is traditionally a weak place for the Winged Messenger to be. Here, we have big plans/ideas but a tendency to overlook details; big words that stretch the truth; big committments that we are unable to live up to; big thoughts that can easily turn into narrow-minded fanaticism.

Friday may find us in the frantic last stretch of the race to the holidays and all we need to do in order to make what we want to do happen with Mars sesiquadrate Jupiter. We will have the energy to go out and do what we must, but will run into all the problems that rabid consumption, excess, indulgence bring us afterwards including having to deal with your fellow human beings in the same state of mind and everyone jostling to get in the position they desire. You could easily cop an overly self(ish)-righteous attitude and get testy with others. Ego energy will be running on high octane and daring/impulsive actions are likely. This energy could also combine with the Mercury in Sag energy described above and have you make rash decisions or overextend yourself somehow. You are driven by the desire to get "more" into your life today, but circumstances may frustrate/slow that down.

Neptune is conjunct Vesta on Friday also. This is an excellent transit for the holiday season as we merge with groups of whom we share spiritual/religious/mystical rituals and celebrations at this time of year, and this aspect will facilitate that on much deeper levels than normal. Perhaps with all the economic troubles of these times, we will be able to (re)discover much deeper meanings of these holidays on spiritual and relationship levels that the consumer-driven world has pushed to the side.

Saturday's third quarter square of the Moon in Virgo to the Sun in Sagiattarius could help facilitate this less material/more spiritual bend to the holidays and keep us practical while shopping for gifts with Mars/Jupiter tugging on us to push up the credit card balance.

Sunday has the second biggest event of the week with Venus in Capricorn square Saturn in Libra. This will cool off personal relationships and have us in a conservative/practical mind frame when connecting to others. This day might be best spent alone or with close family. It's easy to see the faults in others this day, so take it easy and bight your tongue when you're feeling ready to criticize. You can also be manipulated/victimized by others close to you or with authority over you, which can be depressing for sure.

As little activity there is this week, we will be on opposite side of spectrum next week with many aspects perfecting as we head for the holidays.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Last week I mentioned that any plan that the European Union would try to agree to would fail due to it being forged during Mercury Retro in Sag. Well, they couldn't even get all the members to agree, but what's quite distressing (to me anyway) is how willing these supposedly democratic societies are handing their freedom over to a bunch of private bankers to the point where they are naming some of these bankers as the newly "appointed" (NOT elected) leaders of the countries because they are going to be the ones to "force austerity on the people." HOW'S THIS FOR COSMIC IRONY: on the day the agreement was made between France and Germany, it was "Lux Mundi" or "Liberty" - a FRENCH festival derived from Roman times. "Lux Mundi" in Latin translates to "the Light of the World", the epitaph for the goddess Liberty whose "burning torch of hope shines even in the darkest hour." AND THE ULTIMATE IRONY: in New York City's harbor is the gift from the French people to the American people representing this Lady Liberty - the Statue of Liberty itself, yet here is two of the most powerful countries in the world handing over their freedom/liberty to a bunch of private bankers and pushing others to do the same. Get me a bucket to puke in! Disgraceful! But even in this darkest hour of world history, common people around the world are uniting and protesting bringing the "burning torch of hope" in this dark hour. May they be successful in reminding us that the government is supposed to serve the people, not an exclusive group of them only.

Astrological Winds for Week of 12/5/11

Looking at the next 2 months ahead, it's actually a relatively quiet time astrologically. I know the Uranus/Pluto square is in orb and is obviously affecting our times (they-are-a-changin') on large scale/Collective ways, plus we are currently dealing with Mercury Retro in Sag (another big effect I'm noticing of this Mercury Retro period is the "will you make up your mind? [usually reserved for Geminis and Libras] effect." Even when we make up our minds, it seems like someone or some circumstance forces us to change it. And it's also eclipse season. To me however, the next big event in the heavens will be Mars turning retrograde in Virgo on January 25th. I, personally, have a very hard time when Mars goes Retro every two years or so for about two-and-a-half months - much harder than Mercury Retro periods. I noticed the world does too, but I'm not sure if most are aware why/what type of energy we are dealing with, and what to expect and how to proceed. I'm definitely concerned about this one coming up and plan to do a full blog on it, so stay tuned.

That all being said, this is a quiet week, but it does feature a Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse in Gemini on Saturday and Uranus turning direct.

Monday starts the week off with a stable, harmonious trine between Venus in Capricorn and Mars in Virgo. This should amp up our creativity and our desire to relate to others/the opposite sex, but in grounded/practical ways. This is also a time when we find it easier to put what we value into action, and plans we make for doing so will be well thought out/methodically approached. Our social interactions should run smoothly today, if nothing else.

Tuesday has  Jupiter in Taurus in a gentle sextile with Chiron in Pisces which could afford us some opportunities to learn about ourselves in new ways by absorbing the lessons others bring us and prodding ourselves to look at things in a different light.

Thursday's Sun sesiquadrate Jupiter warns you may be trying to take too much on as the weekend approaches. It will be easy to overextend yourself, make promises you can't keep/boasts that exaggerate reality, overbearing philosophical discourses, take bad risks/gambles, etc., as the good feelings you are having can easily turn into over-exuberance.

Friday has Uranus turning direct in Aries.  As its Promethean energy starts to move forward and pick up pace over the weeks (and head for the 1st exact square to Pluto), expect individual acts of rebellion/revolution around the world to increase, and don't be surprised if authorities strike back with violence/a fight. In fact, this can easily turn into a conflagration of violent revolution wherever tension has been building up in the world. The same can be said in our personal lives: you may find yourself striking out assertively/aggressively for your own independence in acts of rebellion.

The big event of the week is the Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse at 18* Gemini, whose ruler, Mercury, is retrograde right now. On the 3rd/9th axis, this Full Moon will be about information and what we do with it; value systems and how they must be stretched; expanding our horizons with what we now know; to take some kind of daring leap towards the new future. The danger is to lose yourself on superficial levels emotionally on all the new things/views being brought to you these days and really not doing much with it personally but just basking in the ideas of it. The key is to grasp onto what inspires you the most and push it out to some new edge where you will find a new creative self/outlet. Look to the houses in your chart where 18* Gemini/Sagittarius are to see what areas of life this will most affect personally for you and to any planets from 17-19* in your chart that may be aspecting the Full Moon and thus coloring its energy for you.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Remember back in late July/early August when Congress held the US captive over its indecision to come up with a budget/deficit plan? I had noted then that any strategy they'd come up with would ultimately fail due to the Mercury Retro period they were making the agreement under. That agreement was to create the Super-Committee to come up with the needed plan. Well, we just saw how that failed, just like the bail out plan that was made during a Mercury Retro period after the stock market crashed in October 2008 that was supposed to rescue the US economy also failed (the 99% anyway). This week we have another financial crisis in the world coming to a head over at the European Union. If they make some decision/agreement this week or during Mercury Retro in Sag, just stamp "Fail" across it in big red letters! I believe after the holidays, especially with Mars going retrograde too, there's a good possibility we'll see another downturn in world's economy.

Next week, Mercury goes direct!

Syria: Hard Times Ahead

It’s simply amazing (to me anyway) how well astrology can show us the types of energy that a person, entity, or country will experience due to upcoming transits from outer planets to inner planet and points. Although there is a seemingly infinite amount of possible manifestations that an archetypal energy can form into, it seemingly always fall into the broader swath of what that archetype actually represents. Take the current
Cardinal Square
between Uranus and Pluto and the way it is affecting certain individuals, entities, and countries that have inner planets or points in the early degrees of cardinal signs. They are the ones that will most likely feel this
Cardinal Square
the hardest over the next four years. Case in point: Syria’s current political crisis.

Since last December, we have seen revolts and revolutions firing up across the world. It started in Tunisia and spread to Egypt, Libya, Yemen, Bahrain, Greece, Italy, the USA, England, etc. Now, there is a big focus on Syria, a country that has been ruled as a dictatorship by the Assad family since November 13, 1970. Syria, as a modern country, was born on January 1, 1944, when the French finally agreed to British and American demands to grant independence to the country. The first thing to note is that Syria’s Sun is at 9* Capricorn conjunct the I/C, and that it has a Cardinal cross of matter (13* Libra ASC; 14* Cancer M/C) – so that puts it right into the scope of the Cardinal Square.

When comparing it to the current day transits, three things jump out at me right away and they all relate directly to the leader of the country. First, Pluto is slowly approaching an exact conjunction to the Sun. The Sun, in mundane astrology, represents the executive leader of the country, and of course transits from Pluto represent transformation usually through some type of death-like experience, only to have something new burst from the ashes. We have seen the pressure on President Assad building more and more – so far he is resistant, but his fall seems inevitable just based on this transit alone! The fact that Pluto will then conjunct the I/C of Syria afterwards (the I/C represents the actual homeland) shows big changes in store for the country as a whole. With the Sun ruling the 11th house of the society’s hopes/wishes/ideals and Pluto co-ruling the 2nd house or resources, one can surmise that the people’s hopelessness for better economic conditions and opportunities is what is spurring this revolution. Second, transiting Pluto is also applying to an exact quincunx to natal Pluto in Leo in the 10th house. Once again, the 10th house and any planets in it represent the executive arm of the government, an executive who has ruled like a power hungry monarch (Pluto in Leo in 10th), who is about to be released (quincunx) through a period of violent transformation/change/revolution (transiting Pluto)! Third, transiting Pluto is also in an exact quincunx to the North Node in the 10th house.  The North Node  speaks of shared destinies – combined with Pluto in a negative aspect this speaks that Assad’s leadership has become a burden to those common hopes that has led to widespread suffering. The result is the massing of people sharing a common and disastrous destiny.

So we see this revolution has started and Assad has resisted, yet it seems inevitable he will fall. When will this happen? Pluto does not reach the exact conjunction to the Sun until March 13, 2012 and immediately goes retrograde – it’s a five exact hit conjunction with the last one not occurring until October 28, 2013. However, Pluto moves at the speed of long drawn out change, so going back to Uranus, the planet of sudden /unexpected/chaotic change, it will square the Sun three times beginning on April 13, 2013 and ending January 29, 2014 (while trining Pluto/North Node in 10th  concurrently). It seems like sometime during 2013 is the most likely time Assad will fall/the crisis will reach its peak. If we consider  in the following few years that Pluto will conjunct the I/C (and oppose M/C) and that Uranus will conjunct the Descendant (oppose ASC) and square the M/C & I/C, one can surmise there will be fundamental changes to the whole structuring of the country during those years (2014-19). Uranus/Desc is a bit worrisome for sure: the Descendent represents allies and open enemies in mundane astrology. With Uranus right on it, there could be sudden new alliances forged that may be unusual in nature, or an attack of old enemies by a new regime (Israel could possibly be a target if a more conservative Muslim government took control).

Next time I get into some mundane blogging, I'll look at European Debt Crisis and/or Progressed Mars Retro in US Chart and how it may relate to upcoming Mars Retro period and how that relates to how the authorities are treating the Occupy Movement.

Astrological Winds for Week of 11/28/11

This week starts off with 3 very quiet days astrologically, as we sink into the throes of Mercury Retrograde in Sagittarius. Two things I'm noticing highlighted with this retro period already: forgetting things you need from dashing off to quickly (only to have to go back and retrieve them, as you need them to complete your tasks at hand), and quick movements causing accidents - so be careful/slow down, seems to be a lesson of this Mercury Retro in Sag - no surprise there! But some deepened spiritual/mystical/religious insight also seems to be percolating to the surface of our conciousness too...a positive attribute of this period...

Thursday, Venus in Capricorn catches up with Pluto. This conjunction can lead to getting deeply serious about some relationship(s) in responsible terms. There's an intensity here, and it can be very narrow-minded in its focus and bossy/manipulative in relation to others. Our insecurities over not having ultimate control over others could chase them away if we take it too far. We may think our way of doing things is right, and it is for you (perhaps), but that does not mean it is for everyone else! This aspect can also find us obsessed/infatuated with someone in romantic/sexual terms.

The weekend should be challenging with Sun/Mercury Retro conjunct and square Mars and all 3 of them semi-square Saturn (Saturn at mid-point of Sun/Mercury & Mars). On Friday, the Sun square Mars can have us very active but also very ego-driven. It will be easy to get annoyed at others and/or circumstances and give someone a good dressing down. With Mercury Retro, remember what I said about moving too fast above: this is the perfect storm day to do so and get in some accident/mess, so be concious of your movements today or you could hurt yourself in some way. This is a good day to get some hard physical work/play in, but it may be best to do it alone, or get into some friendly (hopefully) athletic competition. Be careful if interacting with authorities not to mouth off or you may suffer their wrath. Expect to be challenged by someone or something today - take a deep breath before responding!

Saturday is quieter, but in the eye of this storm of energy above - the semi-square of Sun/Saturn is exact. This is another good day to work on your own projects and expect to be frustrated with others, especially with anyone with any power over you who is using/abusing it.

Sunday, the Sun/Mercury Retro conjunction perfects - this many times finds us retreating within to the depths of our own mind/psyche and assessing/re-assessing all that's gone on over the past few week/months and what it actually means to us/our lives - a reflective/contemplative day. However, with the conjunction in Sag and the square to Mars, it may be difficult to keep it all to ourselves. Heated discussions can easily turn into arguments when everyone feels like they are fighting for their life and the need to elucidate upon their experiences! Defensiveness/touchiness is prevalent, and once again accidents are quite possible. Once again, it might be better to take a hike/bike ride, climb a mountain, play athletic/sports games, take a short rec trip, etc. to deal with this energy.

So be prepared this week to deal with the depths of this Mercury Retro in Sag period. Full Moon/Lunar Eclpise next week in Gemini!

Astrological Winds for Week of 11/21/11

The quieter astrological weather of last week and Sunday's Sun/Neptune square lasts one more day, Monday, before we hit the fronts again.

Tuesday, the holiday season starts to kick into high gear with the Sun's ingress into Sagittarius. Being that it is one of the more religious signs, and that the holiday season of the Age of Pisces has its roots in religiously significant events (supposedly), I've always found that to be one of those amazing coincidences connected to astrology: that the energy of the Archer is what dominates this time of year. Here, people openly display their faiths (lately in the religion of consumerism more than any other) and bring in the new to their lives (many times just through new things they get during this time of year), push their value systems to extremes, become the life of the party, act with zest, etc. Yet, the Sagittarius archetype speaks of wounds - usually ones that are carried inside and covered with things from the outside to keep the pain away. Is this what the reduction of the significance of these religious holidays to the god of materialism has wrought upon us? A hollow feeling inside that has an insatiable appetite for things to cauterize deep pain and raw emotions that we fear, yet must face in order to learn the lesson, so that we may release creativity that we were unable to access before and become the wise ones for the world. With Mercury stationing retrograde in Sagittarius on Wednesday until December 13th, and remaining in its retrograde shadow until January 1st and in Sag until January 9th, it seems we will have much time to contemplate this archetype and where and how it may apply in our life. Tuesday also has a Venus/Saturn sextile: this is a great aspect to stabilize relationships with. People will be open, yet conservative/grounded in judgement, and will be able to work on details of projects well together, which should be mutually gratifying. This is also a good day to seek out advice and business deals.

Besides Mercury going retro on Wednesday and all that usually entails: travel delays during holidays, insert-foot-in-mouth disease, miscommunications, technical issues, etc., there are two very dynamic trines that should have the energy just flying along. First is a Sun/Uranus trine: a time when our pushes for more independence/freedom/individuality are in the flow and do not create the normal backlash they could. Thus, it's a great time to make progressive changes in your life. Most likely we will all be revved up/excited about our holiday plans, parties, chances to connect with others we normally don't see as frequently, etc. Mars trine Pluto is super dynamic energy that goes on and on and can make some long lasting changes/transformations. This is a great day to clear out the old stuff in your life on all kinds of levels: clean the _____ (fill in the blank), psychologically purge, clear the air with others, make sustained efforts and great progress on long standing endeavors. The one danger of this day is the pace of the energy perhaps - with Sun square Chiron we have to be aware of moving too fast and hurting ourselves or others. This shows it will also be difficult to maintain a good balance with all that's going on, so you could tarnish your image a bit.

Thursday, Thanksgiving (Happy Thanksgiving!!!), has a New Moon/Solar Eclipse at 2* Sagittarius. Go back to what I mention above about Sun's ingress into Sag...and continue here: all this energy in Sag now has us personally and Collectively in a state of questioning/re-assessing our value systems/judgements/philosophies/belief systems/culture. This has us asking the deeper questions of what our true purpose is here individually and as a race. The New Moon's quincunx to Jupiter, ruler of Sag, shows that we are misaligned in our judgements and that these areas require some serious adjustments - that we need to re-assess our values and live them more truly and see that when we exaggerate that it only exacerbates situations into endless disagreeable philosophical pursuit - the snake chasing its own tail, so to speak. It's interesting to note that Sag, the Archer, is also Chiron, which this New Moon squares. Thus, the two main planetary connections to Sagittarius both are aspecting the Sun/Moon in Sag. It may seem redundant, but the key to unlocking this archetype is to learn from our wounds so that we may become the teachers - the new leaders on the cutting-edge. This New Moon/Solar Eclipse wants us to wake up! Look to the house it falls in in your chart, and any tight aspects to planets in your chart (1-2* orb) to see where and how it will effect you. Otherwise, there is an ultra sweet Venus/Neptune sextile on Thanksgiving - it doesn't get more fitting than that for this holiday: lazing around eating food and imbibing with close company in thanks for all we have.

Venus is very active this week too, with its sextiles to Saturn and Neptune above, it is also the main event this weekend. On Saturday, it ingresses into Capricorn, where it has very little dignity (just diurnal trplicity ruler). I've always felt that the Goddesses energy is a bit repressed in Capricorn - that relationships become serious and dutiful; that resources must be managed more conservatively; that creativity becomes less inspired; emotions are stifled. It's a good time to spell out details and responsibilities in our relationships however. Venus picks up a square to Uranus Saturday also, so this more conservative/serious stance may be challenged immediately by someone, some surprising event socially, or by exposure to new people. It's easy to get flippant/sarcastic with loved ones if they are irritating you. On the other hand, it may be you who is restless - if so, go out today and do something different that stimulates the mind/your individuality. You need some excitement today, as do others - repressing that can lead to edgy conversation/arguments. Expressing it some other way can be a zesty attitude boost. Venus sextile Chiron should help you out in choosing a postive expression, as it reminds you of your caring side (and how much better you look when you're smiling!).

Sunday, Venus wraps up its aspects of the week with a wonderful trine to Jupiter. This is considered the single luckiest transit there is (if you believe in that kind of stuff!). In earth signs, luck may be measured more pragmatically than usual. The tendency is to be passive when these two benefics meet harmoniously, but if you go out, the Universe should respond to you in kind manners. A great day to socialize, be entertained, romance, resource decisions, harvesting, etc.

Next week, Venus will catch up to Pluto, and the Sun/Mercury Retro/Mars will tussle.

Astrological Winds for Week of 11/14/11

This is a very calm week astrologically - very little to report on, but with the intensity of last week's Full Moon and Mars action, perhaps we all need time to pause and reflect on the roller coaster ride of our lives in these times. Indeed, with Mercury now in its retrograde shadow, a turning to the inner world and some contemplation is in order.

Wednesday has one of the two most significant aspects of the week as Mars, now in Virgo, trines retrograde Jupiter in Taurus. Normally, putting these two together can jack up energy to new highs, but in these two more conservative earth signs and Jupiter moving backwards, actions may be more well-tempered, and thus quite possibly much more effective in the long term. We can make an incredible amount of progress in any endeavor we choose to spend our time on this week, as long as we pay attention to the details and remain grounded in our decisions. A confident mastery of your skills makes you effective in changing/influencing your environment and should give you an optimistic boost. This is a time of working towards goals enthusiastically. Energy is high and lucky breaks can occur if you use this energy well! The only danger is pushing a bit too far in regard to others or finances as Mercury/Venus sesiquadrate Jupiter may have us overextend somehow or get too self-aggrandizing with our statements/decisions.

Sunday has the other major aspect of the week: Sun square Neptune. This could lead to lowered physical energy, being deceived by self or others, being overly idealistic, escapism, alcohol & drug binges, a sense of discouragement/disenchantment with your life. This is not a good weekend to make any major decisions as your judgement is likely to be fallible in some way. This is an excellent day to take a quiet retreat somewhere, even to your yoga/meditation mat, and focus on the spiritual/metaphysical side of your being; take it easy physically/sleep in/lay around and relax. Ambitions will be tempered/dampened, but that's OK for the day.

Enjoy this rather mellow week and prepare for Mercury Retrograde next week, and a Sag New Moon/Solar Eclipse on Thanksgiving Eve, plus a load of Venus aspects all week long!

Astrological Winds for Week of 11/7/11

This week Mars and Neptune/Chiron steal the show - how fitting that it is raining this Monday morning in AZ as Mars opposes Neptune! This aspect can dissipate physical energy having us feel tired/worn down & out/discouraged/confused that our actions are not yielding the results we expect/stuck in the slow lane/etc. However, this is a good day/early week to partake in some slowed down activities physically like hatha yoga/tai chi/choreographed dance, etc. You may find yourself in some conflict with others due to wanting something done now while they resist or vice versa. This is best used for acts of compassion in regard to others instead, or producing art from inspiration in a balanced manner.

Tuesday can be a frustrating day starting off with the Sun sesiquadrate Uranus: if we move fast today, we are bound to trip ourselves up. You may be feeling extremely irritated with others or circumstances and take impulsive actions that just compound the isssues and land you on a dead end street. It's best to give yourself and others space today to be your unique self and to just expect lots of minor issues. The urge for freedom/independence is strong - it may be best to do something alone, but be aware you could be accident prone, so let someone else know what you're up to if it's anything extreme. With both Mercury and Venus semi-square Saturn, it just adds to the frustration level and may get us down mentally/emotionally and frustrated with loved ones/friends/others we interact with regularly.

Wednesday's big event is Neptune going direct at 28* Aquarius. This will be the last 3 months of its traveling through Aquarius for approximately 150 years! On February 4th, 2012, it will re-enter Pisces, the sign it co-rules, and remain there until April 2025. I will get much more into that journey in February, but for the time being, it is time to finalize and start action on any plans you have to join with others who share your vision of equality, brother/sisterhood, spirituality, and inspired creativity in order to help usher in a new world over the next 15-20 years.

On Thursday is the Full Moon in Taurus at 18*. The Taurus/Scorpio axis has to do with material resources and security. The Moon in Taurus has a need for emotional fulfillment simultaneously with a need for material resources/creature comforts. Right now, it is very difficult to satisfy both of these desires for most people in the world, so this Full Moon is going to shine a light on that issue: how do I feel emotionally well and materially secure at the same time?? The Sun in Scorpio says we must confront some very deep issues about money, wealth, power, fear, and our own physical mortality in order to find some answers. It's quite possible the way we view resources will have to die in order to be reborn and rise from the ashes with new creative ideas that could shift our conciousness permenantly. Right now we stand on the brink/cusp of new potential worlds/human developments, but old material attachments must be sacrificed in order for them to be born. A deeper merging with others opens unforseen solutions and possibilities and fosters individual brilliance that collaborates over issues and creates new realities on the ground and running, but it means facing many personal demons that require slaying on the path - ie, a mirror is required! (as is quick feet [thoughts]). On a more mundane scale, be aware of being stubborn or having to deal with stuck others, and don't expect finances to improve. Look to the house this Full Moon falls into in your chart to see where it will most effect you, and see if any other of your planets aspect it to color the flavor for you (1-2* orb).

Also, on Thursday, Mars ingresses into Virgo and Chiron goes direct. This can give us some keys to unlocking the Full Moon issues above. Mars in Virgo says every action should be well-measured and all details must be taken care of first in order to have success. He says we can do more with less if we are careful with the harvest. This is also a good time to get active for some health regime you may be considering, to get involved in projects with others with common values, and to do deatiled work.
Chiron, partnered with Neptune for a few years now in Aquarius/early Pisces, also going direct indicates it is time to act on methods of healing and teaching that we have gained from our own personal experiences/life path that is for the common good and breaks down the barriers between self and others.

Saturday could be challenging with Mars opposite Chiron and quincunx Uranus. Be very careful with your actions being too quick/sudden and getting yourself injured/in an accident. You could very easily overdo it physically, possibly in reaction to strong feelings of needing to do something to alleviate frustrations. There's a very strong need to assert yourself today and you could also end up in conflict with others, especially if mutual decisions must be made.

Sunday's Sun semi-square Pluto can indicate some uncomfortable reflecting on what's going on in your life these days and continuing power plays with others. Things going on within and without can be quite disturbing and you will feel challenge that you may not be able to do much about. There may be breakdowns of relationships or even things/machinery. A good day to keep your thoughts to yourself and reflect on how you got to here and what that can mean.

This is a week to get well-measured with our actions, to eliminate uneeded waste, and collaborate with others on ways to change, so that humanity can move forward on its evolutionary path. Next week, Mars and Neptune continue to be main players.

Astrological Winds for Week of 10/31/11

Happy Halloween/Samhain!

Mercury and Venus are conjunct these days in Scorpio. They have been conjunct by sign and within a 6* orb since October 14th and will remain so until November 25th when Mercury goes retrograde. This week they will both square Neptune and Chiron, ingress into Sagittarius together on the same day, and then trine Uranus on the same day. In addition, Mercury enters the shadow of its retrograde this Saturday in a sign it is quite weak in.

Venus is square Neptune on Monday - this is a blending of higher/spiritual love with mundane/physical love. This usually indicates pleasant times with others, perhaps with a little angst. It's a good day to discuss any issues with loved ones, as it can deepen relationships, merge ideas, etc. This will also spur creative/artistic ideas into actions. We could allow ourselves to be deceived by another by allowing ourselves to be too dazzled somehow however. Also, watch for being overly lazy/passive/indulgent today - don't let the kids get sick eating too much Halloween candy!

Tuesday, Mercury follows suit by squaring Neptune - this may bring some mental confusion, communication misunderstandings, foggy thoughts, deceptions, but also much inspiration perhaps for artistic endeavors and for the study of spiritual/metaphysical matters. Relationships with others may revolve around sharing visions/inspirations and reaching out for diversity to be welcomed in.

Wednesday, they both ingress into Sagittarius together. This is the sign of Mercury's detriment because of the tendency to have big ideas that are not well thought out/with finer details are ignored, and thus we "open our mouths and insert our foot" under this transit quite often, or take actions that can inflict wounds on ourselves or make us look like a fool. Mercury in Sag can make us clownish, but many times it's used as a mask to hide something more painful. Because Mercury will retrograde in Sag, it will remain in this sign of detriment for 9-10 weeks to early January rather than the normal 3 week sojourn. We are under this influence of "overestimating our ideas" during this whole time. The mind is in search of something new and exciting and expansive. With Venus conjunct Mercury and in Sag too, where she/we can get quite vampish/outrageous in our desire to attract other's attention to us somehow. Therefore, relationships are the likely area where our big ideas have not been thoroughly thought out enough and we may end up getting hurt, especially with Mercury/Venus square Chiron this day too. The pay off is we will see how our own actions set us up to be hurt and perhaps now we can learn from that.

Thursday they both trine Uranus and sextile Pallas Athene opening us up to new ideas, people, relationships that bring an air of excitement and electricity to our lives. Collaboration can bring ingenious exchanges that take us to the cutting edge. Any new encounters/experiences/events/people can exhilirate our world. A quick witty mind, the use of technology for rapid communications, flashes of creative brilliance will also all be part of this day. Life is just exciting this day.

Saturday Mercury and Venus quincunx Jupiter and Mercury enters its retrograde shadow so we may get the beginning of a sense of where it is impossible to bridge the gap with others on certain values and feel the need to seperate ourselves from them. Remember that Mercury/Jupiter may have you exaggerating your own ideas/position, and Venus/Jupiter may have you focused on disparities rather than similiarities today especially in relationships. It's best not to make any final decision involving others today, but let it ride out a bit.

Sunday's most notable event is Ceres turning direct in Pisces. Perhaps it is time to open up a dialogue on how we distribute resources and how all must be factored in when doing so.

This week the focus is going to be on relationships/collaboration with a danger of overshooting our mark. Next week, Mars steals the show, and we have a Full Moon in Taurus

Astrological Winds for Week of 10/24/11

This week could start in "fight or flight" mode with the Moon in Libra opposing Uranus and squaring Pluto while the Sun quincunxs Uranus also on Monday. Things will have an edge today for sure, and the way you  react to that will be unconventional and impulsive, and you will tell any one off who is stepping on your toes (you may just however be stepping on your own toes really!).  Minor unexpected events can throw you off and accidents/breakdowns/technical issues are possible. Fortunately, the Moon is in Libra and the Sun trines Chiron too, which may have us be able to navigate this edge by reminding ourselves that there's two sides to every story (at least), and to be able to gain wisdom by seeing every perspective that allows progressive change to enter our lives acting like a breath of fresh air to rejuvenate the soul. One other interesting note is that Juno is ingressing into Scorpio joining the Sun, Mercury, and Venus - this seems like a natural fit archetypically: a deepening of our relationships in any partner-type connections to new emotional bounds and bonding with an ability to communicate on intense levels and to enhance our own Life experience(s).

Venus semi-square Pluto on Tuesday can test the deepening of these relationships and have you doubting or worrying if opening up more was the right move. You may feel exposed in some way or just frustrated by others' reactions. Concerns about your own resources from Sun sesiquadrate Ceres may have you feeling more protective of whatever is your's and wondering how you'll maintain, and feeds the distrust of others that Venus/Pluto brings. Moon conjunct Saturn can just add to this stifling atmosphere. Maintaining objectivity and meticulous thinking before saying/doing may be the best course today.

Wednesday is 1 of 2 very heavy astrological weather days this week that influence the rest of the week with a New Moon in Scorpio, Mars sextile Saturn, and Venus square Mars. Mars sextile Saturn is an excellent aspect for getting hard/physical/mundane work done well. Don't pass this opportunity by from Tues-Thurs to tackle some project at home or work that requires physical work with a discplined approach. Anything like that you've put on the back burner is good to get on now. Venus square Mars blends romance and passion and is an excellent tension and release aspect for lovers. For those not in romantic relationships, you may find yourself attracted to the opposite sex today strongly, or you may get some flashes of creative inspiration that drives some artistic manifestation out of you. The New Moon at 3* Scorpio speaks of deepening relationships, releasing what is dying, the surfacing of the Shadow, the veil being thin between the spirit and physical worlds, passion, deep emotions, and confronting envy/jealousy/fears/vengefulness in order to release them. Scorpio speaks of what we individually and Collectively sweep under the rug, who and what we demonize in our denial by doing so, and having to ultimately confront our fears and mortality in order to gain power over them and emerge from the darkness of judgement with reborn creativity. This New Moon sextiles Pluto, Scorpio's co-ruler, giving us an opportunity to see deeply within ourselves and others and to ride the waves of emotion that surface so that we can begin to transform on all levels. With both Sun and Moon opposite retrograde Jupiter in Taurus, it is truly time to make heavy decisions about resources and value systems. Look to the house this New Moon falls in in your chart to see where your life needs to be reborn and if you have any planets at 3* aspecting the New Moon, thus coloring the energy you receive from it. Pallas Athene's ingress into Aquarius is calling all like-minded warriors of change to gather forces in the name of justice.

Friday is also a busy day astrologically, but most of it is just a continuation and jump up of the octave of the New Moon above, as the Sun perfects its opposition to Jupiter and sextile to Pluto, as the 2 of them perfect their 2nd of 3 trines. This could be truly an exhilirating day where beneficial change and accomplishments are measurable right in front of you. Much has shifted lately and the effects are palpable. The tide of energy is flowing now and its a great time to get in the current of progressive transformation. The danger this day comes in the form of Mercury square Mars - we may fly off the handle with our words today due mainly to the strong emotions that have been coursing through us. Egotistical arguments may ensue, or words can be felt by the listener to be weapons.

The weekend is pretty quiet but with a Sagittarius Moon on Saturday, the expanding energy of Wed - Fri will be strongly felt through this day too.

This is a very dynamic week where we can make much progress on ourselves and deepen many relationships and get much done at same time.

A Lesson on Saturn Returns

Events of the past 2-3 months in the United States have taken a serious turn toward a call for the government and corporations to be more fair/equal/just in the treatment of the People as a Collective - the majority. It is interesting to note that any USA birth chart set on July 4, 1776 has been experiencing its 8th Saturn Return. In any US birth chart dated 7/4/1776 Saturn is exalted at 14* Libra, the degree Saturn was transiting (conjuncting) when the budget talks broke down during the summer and the dichotomy between the Republicans and Democrats reached the widest gap yet. It seemed at that time that the People, as a Collective, lost any or all hope of the economic crisis in the country being able to be resolved by politicians who are clearly in the hands of corporations. That feeling, along with a growing world wide movement of revolution, spawned the OccupyWallStreet movement. When you think about Saturn in Libra being exalted, why would that be? Because Saturn is the judge, and an objective judge seeks what Libra emulates: equality, justice for all. When an entity has a Saturn return, it is reminded of its reponsibilities, and many times, how it's not been meeting them. Thus, this Saturn return is asking the USA to be more responsible with our power/knowledge and to seek equality/fair distribution of resources, exactly what the Occupy movement is seeking...another example of "if you don't work with the transit, it will work against you."...I use the Sibley Chart for USA and Saturn ends up in 10th house in it and squares the Sun - the Executive Branch of the government (Sun/Saturn/10th) has shirked its reponsibility in bringing those who have stolen from the People to justice - indeed, Obama has lost the respect of many of those who elected him. Saturn rules the 2nd & 3rd houses in the Sibley chart: this is all about inequality in resources (2nd) and the way business is done (3rd) - that's the areas that will be forced to change ultimately.

Astrological Winds for Week of 10/17/11

My computer went down last Monday morning and was out until Friday night, thus no blogging last week. As I mentioned the week before that, the big events of this month are Venus, Mercury and the Sun ingressing into Scorpio and one by one opposing Jupiter in Taurus. They are also one by one sextiling Pluto at same time and later will be each squaring Mars and squaring Neptune. Last week, Venus led the charge by sextiling Pluto on Thursday and opposing Jupiter on Friday - it should have been a weekend of indulgences and expanded realtionships in general and a positive "high/buzz" from it all. As I mentioned two weeks ago, this is a ripe time to deepen relationships and collaborations in a spirit of equality/balance/harmony/security. Yet at the same time deep truths will come to the surface and power struggles, emotional manipulation, financial issues, resource management and decisions surrounding them will have to be made. Venus is followed by Mercury ingressing into Scorpio last Thursday and sextiling Pluto yesterday - the message is starting to make a deep mark and giving pause for thought to contemplate the roots of issues and symptoms, rather than trying to sweep things under the rug or just treat surface wounds. This is a great time to look deep within at normally hidden psycological and societal forces that unconciously drive you and others, as they can be revealed, pryed open, exposed to the light, and begin to be cleansed and transformed - a time for emotional courage to face our darkest personal fears and the Collective's denial of a sick system in need of transcendance.

Today, Monday, is a very dynamic day, with a Grand Trine in Air leading the way with Moon in Gemini trine Sun/Saturn in Libra trine Neptune in Aquarius, and Mercury in its exact opposition to Jupiter, with Mars sesiquadrate Uranus just for good measure! The Grand Trine in Air and Mercury/Jupiter have a very similiar signature of lots of focus on mental energy/thinking/communications/intellectual exchanges, and working together this can be an over-the-top day for mental stimulation that is postively inspiring/exhilirating and full of big decisions to make or at least ponder. The big issue is what you overlook, and Mars/Uranus may remind us of that with some shocking surprises or (re)actions by others to what we are putting out there today. Don't be moving so fast that you get in an accident - at the very least nervous systems will be highly stimulated. It may be good to do something physical today too, even if not initially in your schedule, to disperse some of your energy. With the dynamic energy of this day percolating, squeezing in more is an option, but so is wasting energy, false starts, combatative statements and actions, flagrant rebellion, quick and heavy-handed reactions, etc.

Tuesday's main event is Mars quincunx Ceres showing that many are ready to take actions to secure resources and that adjustments will have to be made in order to do so. Old strategies are no longer working and courage is required to seperate yourself from them.

Wed/Thurs are relatively quiet with the highlight being a 3rd quarter square of Moon in Cancer to Sun in Libra: a last call to make more connections now in order to deepen our emotional relationships to others and widen our compassion and caring to include all, so that all may feel secure.

Friday there is a very idealistic trine between Sun in Libra and Neptune in Aquarius. Those who have been rallying for some kind of change will feel positively inspired by the events of this week and a sense a growing collusion of disparate groups with different yet similiar agendas bonding together and realizing their similiarities, rather than focusing on their differences. We may have some kind of spiritual or creative epiphany that will inspire us to do more.

Saturday, Venus sesiquadrates Uranus and Sun squares Pallas Athene - we may find our worlds shaken by new relationships that we form this day. It may feel odd, yet at the same time quite exciting. Many of these connections may burn out as quickly as they come on, yet with Sun conjunct Juno and Venus trine Ceres there's a chance of merging into a long term partnership from one of these casual connections. We may find ourselves relying more and more on others for our material needs also.

Sunday our Collective descent into the Underworld takes its final step with the Sun ingressing into Scorpio and a Mars/Pluto sesiquadrate - it is time to face the Shadow within ourselves and within our society - to challenge it, look it in the eye, wrestle with it, force it to reveal itself, drag it out into the light to expose its weakness, and to realize how it's been holding us back, and thus we can take the steps to change it , re-shape it, transform it, arise from its ashes. Mercury sesiquadrate Uranus should help give us lots of ideas/input on how we can do this - we may want instant satisfaction but this journey is long and requires perserverance. Astrological Winds for Week of 10/3/11

Since last December we've seen revolutions spreading across the world - the signature of the Cardinal Uranus/Pluto Square - an energetic pattern that in the past has led to mass revolution across all levels of society and spreads throughout the world. Now it is touching the United States shores also. Be aware this is only the very beginning of the effects of this energy pattern which will have 7 exact hits from the years 2012-15.  Our personal lives and society itself will be transformed, perhaps quite radically, by the end of this time. The seeds of this change were planted during the Uranus/Pluto conjunction of the 1960's. Now, we have reached the first quarter square of the cycle: the crisis/challenge to put these ideas truly into action. On Monday there is a Cardinal 1st quarter square of the Moon in Capricorn conjunct Pluto to the Sun in Libra following an early morning Moon/Uranus square, giving us a very potent/visceral taste of this Uranus/Pluto energy. The emotions want to take a conservative/ordered approach, yet Pluto/Uranus is forcing change, while the self gets the sense that collaboration/cooperation/equality/justice is the higher road to travel in our lives now. We must struggle to free ourselves from our deepest fears that normally shut us down emotionally and have us try to bring control to the situation through some ordered response. Instead, we must put some trust in the other, share ideals, and seek equality in our relationships on all levels. Mercury sesiquadrate Neptune can muddy the mental waters quite a bit most likely by being too idealistic, dreamy, or escapist. This energy will drift into Tuesday too with the Moon's sqaure to Saturn and Mercury sesiquadrate Chiron - we will get a sense of how much work there is to do and it could seem daunting. We must push ourselves to learn more about our own pain and what it is here to teach us so that we can become more effective collaborators.

Thursday has an odd mix of energy. Mercury conjunct Saturn in Libra is the main signature of this day and we may hear many official announcements by various groups. In our own lives, this would bring sober, grounded communications in trying to hammer out agreements. Attention to detail is at a premium, and minds are narrowed considerably. Mercury/Saturn is quincunx Ceres today, so the disconnect between ideas on resource management may be the main struggle in our communications or in news/announcements this day. New ways of thinking will be required by releasing the old ideas first. Sun sesiquadrate Neptune can give lots of idealism, pie-in-the-sky solutions, deceptions, secrets, etc - it's easy to fall under the spell of others.

Friday has a majorly sweet trine between Venus and Neptune. Here there is a harmony between lower and higher forms of love. This is a signature of "the Romantic" even if it's not on a personal level with someone else - just being in love with life itself, spirit, art, beauty, etc.

Saturday starts a major shift of planetary energy that will dominate the rest of October, as Venus will ingress into Scorpio, soon to be followed by Mercury and the Sun, with all 3 headed for oppositions to Jupiter in Taurus. I will get into this in more depth over the next few weeks, but suffice to say relationships should be taken to new expansive and deeper levels if you work with this energy well. Venus is in detriment in Scorpio because this is where we can "lose it" sometimes in relationships by taking them to a level so deep that irretractable/possessive connections are made that can set us up for betrayal and/or power struggles/emotional manipulation. This energy is best used to plunge into emotional depths of truth with a loved/trusted one that can deepen a relationship to levels that you were unaware of prior to this. If this is done well, the soul-mate connection can be deeply bonding. For those of us found in emotional power struggles with loved ones during this time, it is OK to use your mind to quell your emotions so that you don't lose control and allow a relationship to turn into an all out war. Deep creativity is a positive result of using this energy properly.

Sunday the Sun is sesiquadrate Chiron and we may struggle all day to find balance or promote the image of ourselves that we wish to. Jupiter square Vesta shows we may be involved in groups of like-minded brother/sisterhood, sharing ideas, philosophies, values and taking steps to act upon them.

We have a chance this month to gain many new alliances, friendships, relationships and to deepen existing ones. Our lives can be deeply enriched if we follow this energy.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A quick look at last week's Libra Equinox chart set in Washington, DC shows the tone of our nation for the next 3 months. Several things struck me in this chart. First is the Moon in Leo conjunct Mars in the 11th house. Congress will continue to fight, disagree, be one-sided, etc. This will threaten the country's Collective goals and continue to anger the people at Congress and their pompous displays of arrogance. Local government and civil institutions will continue to suffer from their insolence. Uranus conjunct the 8th house cusp and opposite the Sun in 1st both square Pluto in 4th house (Cardinal T-square) shows active rebellion against corporations, taxes, and financiers, and the President may actually get some popular support that he can use to initiate for changes on how the common people/Main Street are treated by financiers, banks and corporations. South Node in 10th and North Node in 4th shows he could regain his popularity by committing to the orginal ideas that got him elected and aligning his goals for the nation with the common people's, and by being a stronger negotiator (Nodes trine/sextile Saturn in Libra in 2nd house) for a fairer way of distributing resources and the wealth of the nation.

Astrological Winds for Week of 9/26/11

The first three days of the week all revolve around a New Moon in Libra on Tuesday with Mercury conjunct the Sun and Moon and this triple conjunction opposite Uranus and square Pluto! This is some potentially explosive energy in our lives. The Sun/Moon/Mercury conjunction in Libra will have us intellectualize/wax poetically on a mental level. There is a danger of being too innocent/ignorant of the effects of our words and giving too much power to the other/our audience. Opening our mouths can expose vulnerabilities that others could take advantage of even if we have good intentions. Dialogue over issues in our lives and our world can compel us to make some shocking decisions and to broadcast them out to the world. There's a good chance we can sink deeply into an entrenched/narrow viewpoint and to not hear or allow others perspectives to influence our decisions, and set up a power struggle/clash of ideas/war of words. The Libra energy naturally seeks compromise and equality but sometimes will sacrifice it to maintain harmony due to being so uncomfortable when "at war." However, Uranus/Pluto may override this tendency this time around. Indeed, this is a time when what is out of balance in our lives and our world will be magnified, that certain hidden truths may rise to the surface, and injustices/inequalities will no longer be deniable. With all the Libra/Cardinal energy, it is high time to hammer out an agreement, but these negotiations will not be easy. This is a time when we must come with radical new ideas in order to tranform our lives/world. Survival of both self and humanity hinges on our abilities and willingness to do so. On a mundane level, I do not see this as a good sign of the two major parties working together to resolve any economic/budget issues, as they are likely to take the low road energy maifestation of the above: entrenched positions, no listening/compromise, power struggles. Monday has two bumpy quincunxs that help usher in the battle awaiting: Mars quincunx Pluto can bring a great restlessness/uneasiness that is very difficult to put a finger on its source. It can cause many of us to overreact in potentially violent or self-injuring ways. There will be alot of energy accessible and running until you drop is a possibility. Mercury quincunx Chiron reminds us of the power of our words and how they can wound others (or vice versa). It would be much better to use them to heal.

Mars will sextile Sun/Mercury on Thursday allowing the above energy to continue boiling on high heat for another day, however opportunities may arise to get into some open, though heated dialogue. This is also a great day to tackle mental work/paperwork/etc. Venus conjunct Saturn the same day shows that the last few days will sober us up to the realities of our existing relationships and we will be able to assess them in an objective/detached way. It may be time for some good-byes at this point. Practicality should rule this day.

Things quiet down a bit on Friday and Saturday with just the Sun/Mercury quincunx Jupiter. This will have us re-assessing our attitudes, value systems, philosophies, etc. and perhaps refining them after this stormy period.

Sunday, Mars square Jupiter is a big jump of energy - a great day to get out and be active, do something physical, sports/athletic participation, etc. - otherwise it may be hard to sit still, and you could put yourself in danger of causing an accident by trying to bottle up too much energy. This can also give you some uncontrollable urges, so do something constructive with it, but stay measured and aware, so you don't drive right into a wall/over a cliff.

There is much energy available this week to spark some major changes in our lives/the world: go for it, but maintain vigilance of self, others, and environment to navigate these choppy waters successfully.

Astrological Winds for Week of 9/19/11

This blog is belated due to some traveling, however there were no major transits on Monday/Tuesday, although Tuesday night began the weekly lock in of the Moon (in Cancer this time) to the Cardinal T-square with a square to Uranus and opposition to Pluto -  and this was after a 3rd quarter Square of the Moon in the morning, so it could have been a stressful day where plans didn't work out due to others' decisions putting you into crisis mode with a desire to just break free of it all, or some facsimile thereof.

Wednesday, today, has two awkward quincunx's: first, Mars quincunx Chiron could have us over exert ourselves physically somehow and pay the price with some minor injury - don't move too fast/warm up the muscles first, etc. Someone else's aggression can also have wounding effects on you. Second, Sun quincunx Neptune shows we may have caught some spiritual/mystical glimpse of ourselves through some triggering event, but it ends up creating alot of confusion, loss of faith, etc or can have us easily misled by others. It's interesting to note the big story of the day is the planned execution of Troy Davis in Georgia, who claims he's innocent, as do 7 of the 9 eyewitnesses - this is so fitting of these two quincunxs - someone will be executed (Mars/Chiron) because of the twisted ideals of religious retalitory-type laws (Sun/Neptune) and there doesn't seem to be any logic to it, just a big disconnect by those in authority.

Watch for feeling too good in social situations and being out of balance on Thursday due to a Venus/Jupiter quincunx with the result being you mouthing off too much on your promises, what you can commit to, what you have the resources or time to do, due to a Mercury/Jupiter sesiquadrate. Also, it's easy to jump to faulty conclusions on this day and inserting your foot into your mouth.

Friday is the Autumnal Equinox with the Sun entering Libra (Mercury quickly follows the Sun into Libra on Sunday) - the day and night are equal in length now and in the Northern Hemisphere, the nights begin to lengthen for the next 3 months. This can be an very socially active time of the year with school and events in their normal swing. People want to actively engage with each other especially mentally/intellectually in harmonious ways. Mars trine Uranus on this day will fill us with zestful energy both physically and mentally. You may come up with some genius plan and take the first step(s) in working it. This is a very future/forward looking aspect and it could spark some sudden major changes, especially with the Sun opposite Uranus on Sunday also. Right now, there are jobless/homeless people committing themselves to sitting in front of the New York Stock Exchange on Wall Street in protest of the world's economic policies (there are also many holding protests in Georgia against capital punishment in the above-mentioned Troy Davis case). This is the type of event that could potentially explode during these transits. Sun/Uranus opposition shows that resentment has built up to intolerable levels for many and that they feel forced to do something radical/extreme.

Two more quincunxs on Saturday can make this day awkward also and blend into the above transits. A Sun/Chiron quincunx shows the need to make some major adjustments in our lives in order to adapt to new circumstances that on the surface can be painful, but are here to teach us a lesson so that we may become wiser and an example/leader for others in similiar circumstances. A Mercury/Neptune quincunx shows that we may need to use non-linear/idealistically driven thoughts to find solutions to the deceptions we've been fed that led us down the road we are on. It may prove very difficult to communicate what you envision/see/sense this day. It is easy to see how these two quincunxs can feed the Sun/Mars/Uranus energy above with just a need to do something now.

The time is ripe late this week to begin down the road of action to make revolutionary changes in our individual and collective lives.

Astrological Winds for Week of 9/12/11

What a way for Mercury opposite Neptune to go out last week with one last hurrah - major floods on East Coast, major power outage in Southern Cal, major monsoons in AZ, typhoons in SE Asia, etc.!

This week kicks off on Monday with a Full Moon in Pisces at 19*. Full Moons on the Virgo/Pisces axis always have to do with service and what is physical reality versus what is the ideal reality. On one side we have the eye of details/criticism/practicality/disciplined steps/service to physical needs of self and others, and on the other we have the emotional need for something all-encompassing that we can connect to in whole or summary ways - something that is much more spiritual in nature, all-inclusive, faithful, inspiring, imaginative. The danger with both of these signs is a narrowness of vision that sees life as "my way or the highway" mental, yet in two opposite approaches that are linked in the center through service. What we need to realize here is that we are all connected - that we all need each other to survive - that each person must serve the greater whole by serving themselves and those around them well, but to not narrow our vision and duty so much that we become hypercritical, judgemental, dogmatic, exclusive. Yes, there may be a right way and wrong way of doing things, but this is in a constant state of flux that we must be adaptable to/flexible with. We must have faith now that despite all the needs around us apparently not being met, that the tools and resources we need are available to us if we can put on the eyes of discernment and flesh them out. Once again, collaboration with others is tantamount to getting us all moving ahead on this path. Watch for falling into the trap of escapism or hyper-criticism of others. This Full Moon sqaures the nodal axis, so there is alot of karma/dharma to deal with here - a challenge to leave behind what no longer is serving us well (despite how well it may have worked before) and move on to new paths that may not have a visible end point/goal yet, but will ultimately will be much more rewarding/life enriching. Look to see what houses this Full Moon falls into in your chart to see what areas of life it will be affecting the most for you and see what planets it aspects (just 1-2* orb) that will color the energy with their influence.

Tuesday morning into Wednesday morning is when the Moon links up with the Cardinal T-square this week, as it conjuncts Uranus, then squares Pluto, and opposes Saturn at the same time that Venus is quincunx Neptune. Couple this with our Pisces Full Moon, and it seems we may be feeling very lost/confused early this week because of the gap between our ideals and reality, which may have us revolt/rebel suddenly from the underlying tension. This is not a good day to make too many demands of yourself or others, or for others to make them on you, as you are likely to explode in some way that could degenerate into an all out battle/power struggle, and end up undermining your own interests/desires by making negative impressions upon others, especially those who are in authority or superior to you in some way. It's best to use this energy to spark some difficult transformation within yourself.

Yesterday (Sunday), Mercury trined Pluto  and on Wednesday it trines Jupiter - in effect, a Grand Trine in Earth this week. This can be a most useful tool in coming up with brilliant ideas that enlarge the scope of answers we can access to bring about major transformation in our lives especially over resources, finances, values, etc. It is a good time to seperate the wheat from the chaffe so to speak, and cut out what is unnecassary in our lives, as we will find it easier to do so this week. If we can change our ways of thinking, we can change our physical reality. Getting support from others for your plans should be easier, and you may actually find some rewarding work/project/duty to perform. Venus' ingress into Libra, a sign it rules, will help us collaborate with others and find fair deals for everyone. Social times should be more pleasant and light-hearted during Venus' traverse through Libra. This puts us in the spirit of compromise/equity/fairness - a great time to hammer out relationship issues with grace and even dialogue.

Friday Pluto goes direct - a subtle shift that allows us to put into action ideas of transformation that have been simmering inside since early April. However, there is some confusing/awkward energy in the air Friday also from Venus quincunx Chiron and Mars quincunx Neptune. Our energy may be drained from us from disappointing encounters with others, and it actually may get us into quite an ornery/argumentative mood as Mercury semi-squares Mars - it's like a fight of desperation at that point that can be quite childish/egotistical in nature, and is bound to go nowhere/resolve nothing. Perhaps, well-measured movements or words would be the best balm on this bumpy day.

Venus joins the Cardinal T-square by opposing Uranus on Saturday: you may find yourself hanging out with a different crowd than normal. You may meet some exciting new people, but most times these connections are short-lived. You may also be attracted to strange/odd/out-of-character things on a whimsical level. The Sun sesiquadrate Jupiter this day too, says we may overdo it too this weekend - watch for putting your foot (or too much food/spirits) in your mouth, a hole in your wallet, dents in your own values, etc.

Venus then squares Pluto on Sunday and you may realize how far you went overboard Saturday. This can bring up some seriously deep relationship issues - arguments/fights/good-byes/intensity are all possibilities in close relationships this day. It will be easy to get on others' nerves and vice versa. People can become downright mean toward each other and use secrets to try and control each other, undermine each other, hold each other accountable for any slips. etc. Obsesssions. jealousy, envy, power plays are in the air. The best use of this energy is to deepen existing relationships by allowing our stuff/issues to come up and be dealt with in open and honest ways - it can end up powerfully transforming relationships on very deep levels. Mars also ingresses into Leo on Sunday, where it will remain until November 12th, finally leaving behind the waters of Cancer where it is most uncomfortable, as its normal active energy has been extremely watered down. This should amp up our energy and bring a blast of courage and willfullness that will have us strike out on our hero's journey and try to take control of our own actions and lives and push them forward with zeal and confidence.

Next week's blog may come early or late as I will be traveling.

Astrological Winds for Week of 9/5/11

The main theme of this week will be the third and final opposition of Mercury to Neptune that's been occurring over the past few weeks and Mercury re-ingressing into Virgo and passing out of its retrograde shadow - all of this will occur on Thursday. You should have been getting a return to a sense of normal these past two weeks with things starting to break. It should be at normal speed by end of week. However, the question is: what is normal now? Is it the same that it was before late July? Or have the events since then changed what normal fundamentally is at this point? Certainly in the US, the political landscape was torn apart by the budget/debt ceiling talks. So is normal politics in the US now one of confrontation only, and no negotiation/collaboration? Is the new normal for the citizenry to expect less and less from the government and a need to take control on local levels? Ponder it in your own life - what has gone on the last six weeks that has shifted/eroded your reality? Is this shift permanent somewhat? Do you need to adjust to a new normal? Neptune can leave us searching for a solid answer when there is none to be found. He teaches us that we must go with the flow - that there may be a higher purpose to Collective challenges/loss that we are unaware of individually, yet all of our lives are somewhat swept away in. Our innocense/ignorance (which we all are to varying degrees) is not a viable excuse for being passed over by the tide - when the flood comes, none are spared at least getting wet. (Note all the wet weather related events across the globe lately - they don't fit in neatly with budgets or human made structures - Neptune does not care about funds/budgets/etc - they are just human made realities that have no function in the larger scheme of things).

Astrologically, this really is a quiet week otherwise. Tuesday is the day our emotions will be stressed the most by the Cardinal T-square this week as Moon in Capricorn squares Uranus, conjuncts Pluto, and squares Saturn, so expect a tough one emotionally that day of wrestling with your demons, especially in issues of your freedom versus your duties and how enraged that can get you inside.

Thursday, Mercury's ingress into Virgo, where it is has rulership and exaltation, is a boost to the mind. This is where Mercury can be most ingenuous/brilliant and come up with detailed plans to take on whatever is in front of it. Intellectual collaboration with others who share your goals is at a premium during this time. It's also a good time to take a constructively critical self-look at your health and take on bad habits by replacing them with better regimes. Mercury is also opposite Chiron this weekend which helps see both sides of problems and give us the ability to make well-informed decisions that are beneficial to self and others. Mercury's semi-square to Saturn at same time will chide us into being serious about this even though we may feel restricted/frustrated initially.

Saturday should be a fun day with Venus sextile Mars and sesiquadrate Jupiter - this brings balance between male/female energies and has people getting along great. A good night to go out to parties, socialize, artistic events, have fun, etc. It can also boost artistic/creative energies. Jupiter may have us overdo it a bit, so be aware to hand off the car keys to someone sober if need be, so to speak.

Mercury trine Pluto on Sunday is excellent energy to delve deeply into something with. Many times the best use of this energy is to do some serious looking within at your own issues, as it won't drag you down as much emotionally to do so, and you have a healthy attitude towards confronting some demon(s) and showing them the door. This is also an excellent day to work on detailed projects like writing, planning, intricate work, etc.

This week the Winged Messenger should be more sympathetic to the world of mammon, but even he must be wondering how we will deal with all the issues going on these days.
